I'd love to have a nice cafe/bar that serves nice coffees, pizzas, crepes, real ales, and proper cider from a stone jug, and I would call it Flat Earth Sobriety, or something like that. Only problem is people would want to drink tea and tea bags make my skin crawl. Loose tea isn't quite as bad, but it still tries to pull my belly button out my nose holes.
Ain't got a scooby. After nearly 50 years on this planet am still figuring out what I want to do with my life. Tbh I'd be happy doing 4 twelve hour shifts and have 3 days off in the week. Was a gnats chuff off being a professional flyfisher a few years back, comps, guiding, tying flies, that sort of thing. Was all set to hand me notice in and for some reason the market crashed. Me mates who had been making a tidy living out of it for years had to pack in, so noooo chance for me just setting out.
I always wanted to tinker with stuff and am generally good at it (can't be bothered to be modest ) Years ago I was accepted to do a degree in robotics at uni which was like winning the lottery. Unfortunately booze, cars and general arsing about meant I didn't go and did a degree in maths and programming instead So my ideal job would have been a mixture of mechanics, electronics, pnuematics, hydraulics etc. And I would spend my time working on cool projects all over the world Instead I work in IT and try to do less fixing and more project management and development. And at best I can describe it as ok but dull.
Here y’go @scrooge95 https://www.countryside-jobs.com/ As I’ve bleated on about, I got made redundant earlier this year, luckily with enough of a wodge to think a bit and not lurch into the first thing. All I can do is write and/or edit magazines, and these days they’re all in London. I’m not commuting 5 days a week all over again. Can’t bear ‘content marketing’. Trouble is, I’d like to do so many things! Latest is to rent/buy some polytunnels and a plot and grow totally insecticide/pesticide free plants, as loads of commercial plants have neonic insecticide in them systematically - thereby poisoning the very insects they attract. Even the RHS are guilty. But distribution is the killer... Came back later, I’ll have had another idea!
I signed up for a mechatronics HND, pretty much electronics, hydraulics mechanics, pneumatics, turned up in The first day having moved nearly 300 miles from home, they announced not enough people enrolled for mechatronics so we’re doing mechanic design , not done anything with it other than get a degree which I also have yet to use
I’d also quite like to do these things- 1. Spend my days driving round the small roads of Europe spotting old vehicles then buying them and selling them on. This job also includes trawling scrappies for rust free classics and selling the parts back here. I bought 2 C15 bonnets from scappies in Spain and sold them double back here and it was still a v good price for the buyer 2. Buying and selling 2nd hand stuff that I find by spending my days going to car boot sales/charity shops etc and then sell them on EBay etc from the comfort of my own home.
Cheers m’dear. My boss is selling his house and the 300 acre estate, within which the tree nursery resides. Depends if any potential new owners of the estate want to share their land, driveway, garden etc with our rather muddy tractor and landrover, the weekly appearance of Artic trucks from Holland, and us in general. The fields of trees are quite pretty, but us not so much! Don’t really want to sit out the remainder of my working years on the tills at the local co-op, so ‘countryside jobs’ could be the website for me Good luck with the job hunt @Kkkaty, and if you get your poly tunnels, give me a shout
Thanks Poptop2. Have been thinking about this for a while. Perhaps during school holidays too. Trouble is the dreaded CPC £500 i think. Bit of a hurdle in the way of my plans.
