The show is secondary although the bays do get plenty of attention , it`s more about meeting a few people off the forum , having a natter and a shandy or two
Agreed , it`s the usual ripoff but we (as a group) always ate well . Everyone brings food and a few ales , we just hand it around - works well and @nicktuft does a stir fry to die for Shows aren`t really my thing . Only reason i went initially was because it`s 20 minutes away , after that it`s to catch up with folk and get ideas for the van to be honest . Bus doesn`t have to be a minter , so long as it`s legal and used , or in my case WELL used
Not really sure if I can make it this year but we'll see. Will deffo do a" stir what's it" if I join you.
Bus is going off for it's bit of welding on Thursday, so absolutely no reason to miss Volksworld this year - it can't possibly take 6 weeks, can it?? (Oh god, I've jinxed it now) If there's a place, I'd love to join
For the first time since (at a guess) 2006 .... I've no intention of going at all. Mostly because I don't like the whole two tier favouritism on who gets a club pitch for free and who has to pay, and a general desire not to ever do anything to put so much of a penny of wages in Adrian Prawn's pocket.
We always like the bit when its the really low prototypes or splitties that leave big pools of oil all round the Finishers Enclosure or the oh so pretty hire company bay on the VWT2OC stand next door develops a petrol leak and has to be repaired before it can leave ... The TLB lineup has included prizewinners as well as one bus that was erased from official pictures because it was neither patina nor rusty but sort of piebald in the middle of a resto... Generally though, TLB makes a point of showing buses used by real people that are used and so arent perfect. Like you drove it to the show parked in a campsite overnight and then it gets a bit dirty... Come along and talk about owning a bus with all those people who otherwise only get to see the glamour not the reality of bus ownership. Also wear sunglasses and a big sun hat because that much beer and pizza on Friday night still has an effect on Saturday.
Precisely exactly succinct and to the point. It's what you make it. The syncros next to us last year, took it to a different level with wood burner stoves and roof tents. So much was "scene" which I can understand but moves away from the ethos of it all.
Assuming DVLA issue me a V5 I'd love to come along. It would be good to put some faces to names. Can only make the Sunday though. Stirlingmoz
