If I watch any of the Premier League Teams its hard for me to support them, apart for the name they could be any team in the world, no English managers, very few if any English players, Its just who will pay them the most money, no interest to me any more really.
Check out your local non-league club... blokes playing for the love of the game, not for the sound of a cash register, and knowing that the few quid you pay to go and watch will actually make a difference to the club. Plus it's just really nice to be so close to the game, not way up in the top of a huge stadium, or just watching it on TV. The quality is different obviously, but you'd be surprised how quickly you adapt to the lower standard, seeing good as well as bad. I occasionally go and watch Pompey and Plymouth Argyle, but that's about as high up the ladder as I want to see. Non-league all the way.
I'm a Leeds fan so lost interest in top flight football about 15 years ago Only thing that keeps me smiling is that we've still won the title more recently than Liverpool and all but 6 of the other 92 teams in the league!
Just watched the Champions League highlights, 11 goals scored by "English" teams, one scored by an English man!
Ive Supported Chelsea for nearly 54 years, I don’t care if our players come from mars, it’s the club I support not the players and after all the crap I put up with in the early years of following them all around the country its great that we are finally winning things, thank you Mr Abramovich
same here I like 6 nations ,speed skating ,tour de france or anywhere of course.. I cannot remember the last footy game I watched..
We usually try and see 3 Pompey games a year but with the high proportion of season ticket holders it has become increasing difficult to get three or four seats together. The major premier league clubs have become big brands with little regard for the supporters. I don't even bother with MOTD any more.
I see the Manchester United supporters trust has had a meeting with Jose Mourinho regarding the atmosphere or rather lack of it at Old Trafford, they are not alone there are other grounds that are very quiet on match days, Arsenals Emirates springs to mind, thankfully the support from our fans both home and away is fantastic
Yes your right Barry. Not shaw about your home support. Atmosphere last time I was Stamford bridge was woeful. Still better than arsenal.good win last night. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I went to one game at the start of the season and ended up giving my season ticket to my brother and telling him to take whoever he wants, haven't been back since. I realised that the overplayed players couldn't care a less about ruining my Saturday so why should I care about them. Being a Sunderland fan though I still care about the club and check the results, it pains me to see us plummeting down the leagues due to complete mismanagement by an owner who thought he'd buy a football club as a plaything and has now lost interest.
feel your pain.i walked 12years ago.20 plus years season ticket mufc. . having a lot more fun non league. drinking a pint for less than 3 quid.standing and singing. use to love going to roker park.99 years of history gone. good luck this season black cat.
As a 10year old Leeds fan in 1973 Sunderland aren't my favourites , however I have some sympathy with similar fans who've had to endure miss management of our great clubs!
