Hi Quite new to air-cooled stuff. I had a 1303 years ago but needed a motorway mile muncher I hired a split a few years ago and kick started the air cooled bug (no pun intended) and then this year after thinking T2's were just too dear, I bought a 1302s Beetle which is great fun but I could not settle and eventually bought a '73 tin top last month to sit alongside it in the garage!! Being quite new I may be calling on you all now and again for assistance/advice Dave
Hi from sunny Barnsley. In between the mirth you will get good advice Lets get this out of the way now - are you Stuarts brother? I'll get my coat

No relation to Stuart and I am not a DJ either!!!! Poptop2, just been going through these tips and gems and I have to say, every day is a school day!
Baysearcher.........you are winding me up right? I drove it from Ashford in Kent all the way to Teesside with no dash lights at night, gauging speed on engine sound alone!!!! 7.5 hours!!!!
Yep, done that too! It's not a particularly exclusive club, the 'my dash lights don't work' one. (I used a torch every now and then ) Good mileage for the first trip though, well done! Oh and Welcome from down south in the New Forest. Nice looking tin top
Welcome from Southend Essex. Wow 7.5 hours driving the bus in one trip....if it did this with no probs it must be a good purchase. Headlight switch catches a lot of new owners! Had mine for over 6 years before a warning buzzer went off to tell me the drivers door was open with the keys in the ignition!!!! These busses have lots quirks.
Welcome aboard the rollercoaster... I think you will fit in here.... @Barry Haynes is the one to watch...
