Morning all, Just drafting opinion on what you all have in your's ? Just doing the interior and having a debate with myself on either vinyl or carpet ! Thoughts ? Cheers CJ
After an accident with a hot frying pan and vinyl, I wouldn't have vinyl again. I have marmoleum for wet/warm weather and will get a rug or cut some carpet to put on top for comfort.
I always have a chuckle at pics of people carefully tiling their camper floors. I don't get it! You can get a sheet that looks like squares and save the bother plus the corners aren't going to lift if damp gets in. What's with the tiles? And... Why do peeps buy simple floor tiles from MadMatz (for instance), surely there's nothing special about them?
Personally cos they were cheap from a diy store. Also they were nasty and will get replaced. did I mention they were cheap!
you are both clearly correct as ive seen buses advertised that state they have madmats flooring tiles fitted. Ive always though that strange (well not actually "always" but you know what I mean)
This is not a go at MadMatz BTW, I've seen their stuff and it's great and good prices. Really like the cab carpet sets and if not for the impracticality of cleaning possible doggy poo poo from a carpet made from rough string, I'd have fitted some.
Flotex in the living bit, home made rubber mat in the cab....will also get a decent rug at some point
I'd go for one piece marmoleum/contract grade vinyl, or bathroom grade laminate, overlain with washable fitted carpet/entrance mat...depends on your camping habits and how precious you are...I'm quite precious about mine
Cheap as chips and rubber backed. I got one for £6.99 from Sainsbury for the early but I didn't have so much floor space in that one.
I currently have laminate flooring - naff as the inevitable rain through an open slider is doing its worst So plan is to replace this winter with some heavy duty vinyl stuff kindly donated by @Flying Pig and then as we do now, use a cheap IKEA rug/mat to stand on for warm tootsies
Keeping the floor clean is the priority. I have a one piece rubber mat in the cab area and lino in the back. Easy to install and easy to clean. Lino is more traditional than vinyl but plenty of places do cheap vinyl off cuts which would be just as good. I think carpets are a no no. I got the cheap £20 precut rubber mat off ebay. Easy to fit and you can lift it up for cleaning the cab floor. Its not the best around but its sensible. I suppose you could put some underlay under it.
Vinyl or hard flooring is slippery when wet. The dog would be all over the place and any spillages could get underneath the floor with subsequent corrosion issues. Carpet is nicer on bare feet, soaks up the spills and can be taken out and washed or hoovered.
carpet will get dirty, damp and will go mouldy in winter. vinyl is best and you lay it and seal around the edges as with a bathroom floor. carpet is unhygienic and will harbour all sorts of bacteria and will smell.
