I meant the floor plinth, not going to fit fancy pelmets! Anyway just done them, that's all I am doing to it now, it's only in for 3 months.

Blooming heck! We've been in ours since last sept and I've only managed to change the boiler! The taps still occasionally leak and the gas hob is down to two rings. I would condemn it if a customer had it :).
I shall NOT be leaving my phone about with this thread open on it!

yeah, these are the cheapest units howdens do, when we set up a site (to fit out a new shop) we have to fit a temporary kitchen for our workers so they do look like works canteens..... the tiles are starbucks not costa though, we don't do costa shops.

my boiler is dated 1984 (gasman estimate as that was the year they stopped making the model) i wish i could do that part - the rest is easy.

Have you painted your plaster the same colour as wet plaster? Or have you fitted the kitchen so quick the plaster is still wet...

Fit the units yourself and just pay a fitter to do the work top joints, maybe cornice and pelmets too. The rest you can do easy. Have you been quoted for full fitting service?

  17. If you can do flatpack furniture and use a spirit level, you can build and fit kitchen units. (and you clearly can, judging by the 'temporary' kitchen.) I fitted the kitchen at my old house and it lasted for 12 years before we moved (and is probably still there now). I'd agree with getting a fitter to do worktops, I hated that bit and I'm sure what I did was rubbish.

there are integrated hob/oven and extractors to be done i'd rather it done properly, i've found a lovely local guy who's been fitting 42 years, he's already been out and designed the kitchen and given me a list of the units i need all with his discount off them, he's let me take that away and order them through my work account to get the vat off as well and we have no charge for any of that, he says he is quite happy to let me find another fitter because he can't do it until october, i told him i doubt i'll have money to pay anyone until october........ he said well don't worry we will sort something, even if it's done in his down time - i'm happy to repay his kindness so far with letting him fit it when he can.
the temporary kitchen is really just thrown in pictures flatter me.
