Heading into Europe on 6th September. Route currently undecided. Either want to head to Italy or Portugal. What route would you take through France? Would rather avoid the tolls, see the sights, but not be in the middle of nowhere! Setting aside 2-3 weeks.
Not been funny but you avoid the motorway this is what happens... ow lovely little village ,look at the nice houses ,there's a patisserie.. ow lovely little village ,look at the nice houses ,there's a patisserie.. ow lovely little village ,look at the nice houses ,there's a patisserie.. ow lovely little village ,look at the nice houses ,there's a patisserie.. ow lovely little village ,look at the nice houses ,there's a patisserie.. . 9 hours later you have done 80km... Duno if you did geography at school , but there are in different directions...
Patisseries are good But you're right, we wouldn't make much progress! I know they're in different directions. Hee hee. I think we (I) have settled on Italy, with Pisa our mid-point.
for when the other half is fast asleep at the tolls , pole with a tin on the end is good , saves getting out have a great time , i might see you before then but do anyway
With three weeks you could head down through southern Germany and come back up through the south of France... dont hang about in any one place too long though!
when I am in the lhd T25 the ticket comes out above ,so still have to struggle climbing out of the window...
The mile of double fence, 15ft and 10ft appears to be working. They have gone for the easier target. I wouldn't use DFDS given the industrial action at any time, after queueing and getting through security and customs the checkin was shut. Sign said, please go to Dunkirk! Not amused.........
We ALWAYS avoid the tolls. It's nowhere near as bad as people seem to think, especially in a Bus as you're only going to be doing 55 mph anyway. For Italy I'd go Newhaven to Dieppe (No delays, works out same price if you count up the fuel) then Le Mans, Tours, Bourges, Lyon, Turin. On the way back I'd skirt further South, come up the West coast and stop off to annoy @lost-en-france.
Depends on how much time you want to spend driving. For some it's about the journey; for me it's about the destination! I've used the tolls sometimes and avoided at others; both work for me.

Thought about Croatia ?? Easy drive down through France , hit the med , turn left , follow the Riviera into Northern Italy and out along the Dalmation coast . Back up through Austria , Germany , low countries to your port of choice . Great trip and 3 weeks is plenty of time to chill out and enjoy the trip
