Following on from the pushrod tube issues, I will say VW Heritage sorted the issue out, no quibble, so, we got them installed, pushrods popped in, rockers rebuilt and all of the valves gapped to 0.008" (I know it should be 0.006" but they will be reset before the motor is run up)

Quickly popped the oil cooler tin on to check it fits as it should

Time to build up the fan housing; gave it a quick coat of satin black

    All done :D

and to keep @pkrboo happy, we straightened the bracket from the oil cooler to fan housing

Also made a start replacing some of the tins, although loosely fitted, they will prevent debris from being in the ports

Ive got some more progress made this past week; not updated for a while as Ive been on holiday and on Uni study.

Made some Phenolic spacers for the carbs
    [IMG]

replacement bracket made for the l/h heat exchanger
    [IMG]

Me Dad made up an Oil pressure gauge and switch sender manifold (7050 Aluminium Alloy)

My Dad also sorted the Alternator bracket as the bottom was rotten & needed a new bit welding in
    [IMG]

Plugs and Leads popped on (to stop debris dropping into the motor)

Ah - it is fuel injection @MorkC68 so you do need the heat spacers under the inlet manifolds.
I thought it was a carb one when I advised otherwise.

This is a carb' motor Steve, I need to take the bottom head to manifold spacers off as you mentioned the other day!

These are 34 ICT manifolds, the carbs on the 1641 in the bus at the moment get hot n fuel bubbles/gurgles when the motor is switched off. I figured slightly cooler carbs might not have evaporation issues with the spacers

 very similar to one another! See, great minds think alike, I was in Bath when he made it..you'd get on well with my Dad, he likes tinkering with mechanical things. He's got a BSA Goldstar 650 he's building at home :D

Your inlet manifolds in the pics are for FI though.
For carbs you want the inlet manifolds to get some heat in them, but not the carbs for the reason you quote, so phenolic spacers just between the carbs and manifolds. For FI you do have heat spacers under the manifolds and hopefully someone will be along to say exactly why that is. :)

The manifolds should be for ICT's, I recently got them from Eurocarb along with the linkages - the threaded holes in the bottom are for servo take off and balance pipe. I haven't got a carb to mock up, yet!

The spacers are ones I made at work, they didn't come with the kit!
I'll pop the bottom spacers off on Monday before I forget

I think you've been hoodwinked there matey, Servo take-off and balance pipe are one and the same thing requiring just one take-off point on each manifold, higher up where they more naturally get sucked on by both cylinders. Those threaded holes are for injectors in my humble opinion.

Or I could have been sold the wrong manifolds!

They are, however, very similar to the manifolds for a Brosol Solex carb set up except the carb end is slightly smaller!

I have a 2l with ICT's in the workshop, I'll check it out later. :)

I'd have said these are what you want. I note eurocarb never seem to show that side of the manifolds. EDIT: apart from on your link. I note the word "suitable" in the description.

Hmm, I see what you mean! They have the balance port in a similar position to the type 1 set up we have!
