Fresh air vent speakers

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by sANDYbAY, Feb 12, 2015.

  1. When I get round to it I plan to put something in the kick panels. I do like @sANDYbAY 's install but I think I'd miss the fresh air. Also I'd of thought you'd be able to get more bass out of the kick panels.

I'd imagine that bigger speakers in the kick panels would have more bass but because these are right near your ears the sound transfers lovely and the speaker volume can be lower but still clearly audible.
I've got them so we can hear a bit of bass from the 9" speakers in the back to give a fuller sound and the rest of the music comes from the dashboard speakers.

Well after finishing the dashboard speakers the bed board panel speakers looked a bit boring...

So I got some speaker cloth from eBay and some very hard resin sheet and made my own version of the speaker grill...

They were ok but not really that interesting so I made a pair of HMV grills...
They looked really nice but the trouble was it made the brown vinyl covering look a bit old and tatty so I redid that as well....
That looked really nice as well but the trouble was it made my nameplate look a bit tired...

So I made a new name plate and new wider letters from a nice piec of Cherry...

A coat of Danish Oil and wax finished it off nicely...

  10. Love the speaker covers. And that is a real bad ass veneer!

These have been a long time in the making, but shortly I want to start producing and selling these kick panels, they allow up to 6.5" speakers to be mounted without fouling the headlight bowls, I've got the tooling done - just need to start producing them!

Ancient thread resurrection! Did these kick panels ever make it into production and did anyone fit them?

    You need to ask @Kruger

  18. I'm interested too, I've got two pioneer 4" speakers, behind the dash, half way up towards the air vent and the sound is abysmal
