First Ford I've ever had, and after wanting one for years wish I'd bought one sooner, running twin Weber 40's and sounds pretty awesome, needs a smaller exhaust system fitted. A few small jobs to do, but its a drive able classic ford that is fun to drive, and its Made in GERMANY!
Not sure where you are but they (old RS ford owners) meet up at Brands Hatch once a month, we were there on a track day last week and as we drove out there were loads of them. Brilliant..
There is Classic Ford show at Santa Pod this weekend but I'm not sure if I can be bothered to drive the distance and sit in long ques to get in/out, (been told 3/4 hours to get out of Santa pod) enjoy driving it not sitting in traffic
Years ago a mate of mine had a mk 2 RS2000, the one with the drop nose, absolutely beautiful car, bright orange and in perfect condition, if only we'd known what they'd be worth today. Have a neighbour in his late 60's now, loves his cars, into Skylines and drifting, talking to him one day and he mentioned one of his mates when he was growing up was Keith Ripp, later of Ripspeed (those were the days), between them they had lotus cortina's Mk1 & 2's, RS's, BDA engined escorts... all sorts of classic stuff...you name it they had it...
The Mk 2 RS2000 is the car I wanted and loved as a kid, but I've missed the boat on them, and doubt I'd ever be able to afford one, I've got my Westy and now the RS so I'm happy with that for now, unless I sell them both and get a RS2000. Prices for these car (just like classic VW have gone mad) keep going up so I decided if I didn't get one now I never would, my car is used and abused and far from perfect, exactly what I wanted, i just wish I'd bought one years ago when I kept looking but never bit the bullet, they have gone up a bit in the last couple of years.
Very nice, I used to have one of these:- More pictures here:- http://smg.photobucket.com/user/Chrisradioman/library/My RS1600i?sort=3&page=1
I sold it in 2006, I do regret selling it, it was mint. The guy who bought it off me stripped the sounds & TV's out of it, then the next guy stripped out the leather interior, the next guy has put the original interior back in, he is a collector & has one of every colour. So its in good hands
I checked you pictures out, must of been a lot of money and time spent on doing the sound system, then it gets ripped out At least it's in good hands now, out of interest what kind of money was is worth when you sold it, it looks in very nice shape in your pictures, was it all original body work?
A mate of mine ,and a lunatic , had a girlfriend who had a white RS 2000 , he borrowed it just once and ended up in a river with it after storming over a hump back bridge leapt into the air even missed the stone wall side of bridge and then in he went . Another reason why his sort put up the insurance on high powered vehicles .
A friend of mine married a girl who had a Porsche GT2, ( and she could drive it properly too ) he was 'allowed' to drive it and ended up putting her pride and joy into a ditch and done £20k worth of damage, they got divorced shortly afterwards
