The sun shone, the vws came! The weather is always a bit of a gamble in the Lakes but this weekend was a rare glimpse of the 'omg why didn't I pack shorts?' face (with the exception of @yorkshirecampers Zoe) It was boots on and walk on Saturday Julie and young Yip contemplating the river A few of us climbed up to the Roman fort at the Hardknot pass Spectacular views from the top, right down to Ravenglass And to top the amazing weekend off, @Lord Congi won this fine example of wood carving
You'll have to come up north Barney, we'll be glad to have you. What are you doing Dent Beer and Music weekend? 26th to 28th June http://www.dentmusicandbeer.com/about
Stunning pics, the Lakes are fantastic whatever the weather, I'm off for a weekend with my wife in 2 weeks with a planned walk up Blencathra, happy days Guys you only live once
it was a good break from the daily routine and good to meet up with everyone again, see you all soon. lots of nice vans and buses ranging from the samba upto t5, lots inbetween. @carlot25 forgot to get up early enough so went for a stroll on my own and at least this year i got to the top of Scafell... this is where i'm off too couldn't see it for mist last year so peacefull up here looking back towards the duddon and morcombe bay and my house just me at the top......... @Flakey you missed some brill views from the tops
even though we couldn't see the top we must of been quite close as i remember skirting around over rocks which start on the final slogg to the top. in the end i could only manage about 10 steps before a rest due to lactic in the legs, blow me there's no pub at the top and had to settle for coffee and no taxi back down............. damn photobucket has turned the photos the wrong way.......
Just a note to those of you who took dogs with you. We have been checking our two over the last couple of days and have just removed several sheep ticks off both of them - yuk!
I carry a few tick twister hooks in my first aid kit They are well worth having if going up north especially the lakes and scotland
