A customers. I built it up for him and installed it. A bugger to work on without scratching anything! The grey pipe is a sort of fuel filler overflow. Early flaps had a dam to stop fuel spillages dribbling down the paintwork. Cost saving eh? Another nicety cut out. I also have captive nuts everywhere you have spire clips. In the olden days, if you went to a garage and said "fill her up", they'd brim it right to the cap. I think.
Just cheapy ones from Heritage for ICT's/ICH's. Most peeps seem to use flat ones as a preference, but they don't fit with the fan housing on a T1.
It's so he can fill the engine bay and consequently his heating "fresh air" supply with a fine spray of oil mist. It's also good because it helps oil to leak out everywhere. Negative crank case pressure is for sissies.
@RM92 The engine is designed to run with -ve case pressure which helps keep the oil inside. Those ali filler necks are renowned for one thing - being ******* poor. The breather spurs are usually too small to be effective. And the other thing - if you are going to run heat exchangers for your heating, the fresh air comes from the engne bay and because you're venting crankcase fumes into it, that's what you'll get in the cab.
Type ones always look better with twin carbs maybe its because its more symmetrical and the air filter housing gets removed
The best ones are like this, with the tube down through the tin as well as the breather outlet. Connect to a fitting on top of an air filter like I've done. You need oil proof pipe. Pretty much all pipe apart from water pipe will do. Next best look the same but with no tube through the tin.
With progressive carb and oil bath. And a 20mm ID breather hose going to the air filter. This is earlier this year with the wonky throttle linkage.
Jeez Mike, what are all those wires? I thought mine was spaghetti junction but have me beaten hands down!
Iv'e just taken the Serpentine pulley system off, I got sick of the fine oil mist that they are notorious for spraying on everything @zed , She's looking a bit boring now but might stay cleaner .
