WANTED Wanted: project bus - up to £1k

  2. Why would you do that? You could buy three half decent buses for that money. Have you thought about a beetle? They seem quite reasonable at the moment, and who knows, in a few years they might catch up with bays again.

  3. Do you mean this bio-diverse habitat?

  4. Love it to be saved but looks like anything that could be sold has been pulled from it from this one
Still they've positioned it to end on Sunday evening so many a Kleenex will no doubt end up crumpled on the floor (sic) ;)

  5. Similar but the one I meant was green and probably worse condition

  6. I wonder if @taypic has anything in your budget

  7. 7 Grand !!!!
Not even the option to make an offer.

  8. That needs scrapping :(

It would be unless the op was adamant that he wanted a sub £1k bus!

  11. Well I would save or get a loan as a sub £1000 bus is most likely a massive false economy or a bus where the owner is stationed at a military base.

I completely agree Dave but we've already been through all that and the guy still wants a sub £1k bus....

  13. Just on is this one
Description may well be edited very soon though

  14. I'm gonna go right back to the original question & the getting outbid at the last minute thingy.
We've all gone through the pain of buying & selling & that last link to an ad I posted had implied groans all through it's description. Liked it!

IMHO turning up to see a van & chatting through the options with the seller is much more likely to produce a result than just waiting to get the right price on the screen.
All sorts of deals can be cut face to face that are too complex to include in an ad.
Yep it's often a schlep across the country for a wrong 'un no matter what your price bracket but your gonna invest a lot of time & money in to this so get used to it at the start.

Would be amazing to see the stats on the number of no shows, retracted bids, paper thin excuses for not tuning up, etc after an auction closes on that inevitable Sunday evening

I was out bid on the pickup I suspect by the sellers brother, I'd been to see it though and had a good chat, then the winner! allegedly pulled out 3 days later and they offered it to me at my highest bid, we agreed on £50 less than that. I recon I was the only bidder who'd actually taken the trouble to view and I ended up with the bus at the price I was happy to pay.
