I knew this went on with a lot of bigger companies and hauliers etc, but it has never really visited my door as it were. Just lately I've been noticing g a lot of one particular companies vehicles tucked away in assorted lay-bys and field entrances, particularly towards the end of the day. Recently I've had subcontractors come to site and do work. They get the job done as quickly as possible and then sit in their vans for 1 1/2 hours before heading off. This was a mystery to me until I asked a guy that sat for 3 hours outside a job and did nothing. I asked if he had a problem and he said "no, but if I leave much before 4:30pm I'll have to go back to base for another job sheet" I just binned a firm of glazers for doing a rushed, crap job and then the guys sat in their vans counting down the hours till home time, because they are tracked. Surely they could have spent a bit more time doing a decent job! Anyway they just cost their boss £10 k worth of glazing work and he'll know first thing tomorrow! I'd get bored myself.
We had it at Polar Speed Thermologistics but then we did carry every drug you could think of for human and animal care. I didn't care if they knew where i was, we didn't have routes just drops and pick ups so I could go which way I wanted and did some shopping on route. When I was a builder man if I got the job done I'd find a lay by and sleep but not tracking.
We have tracking on all our vehicles. But all our drivers are on "job and finish" i.e. Go home as soon as your done.
Are them vans you see the ones I see on the Local road and based from near where I work coz I see em as well
I got tracker on my works van and I tend to start early and then finish early, no one has ever said out in 11 years if I finish my work early I go home !! They get payed same either way iv seen folk sat in vans But our vans tell u if there unlocked to so no point sitting in them !!
I could do with a tracking device for @Mrs Top Banana Racing, she has a propensity for wandering off.
we have three hours lunch ,it tends to fill the day, instead of sitting and doing nowt ,we drink and eat slowly...
Yep, and they clog up all the local merchants in the morning, usually getting a free coffee and one tube of sealant and taking an hour to do it. Lazy bastards they are. It's says on their vans 'working for a top 100 employer' I'm not surprised if that's all they do in a day.
And apple/windows/android as you move from cell site to cell site ...and most phone 'apps'....most phone 'free games'.....most blue traffic master cameras on bridges.....most anpr cameras on garages.... It's pretty much impossible to not be tracked these days.
Well, there is a way...don't use anything electronic But I take your point. Forget GCHQ or the NSA. They're not interested in you. Google is, and has an infrastructure in place that would be the envy of any intelligence service...
The mafia always said the cracks only started appearing when they got lazy and stopped face to face meetings and got their phones tapped. Facebooks data centre is so large they built it in the article circle to safe money on cooling. Fortunately, whilst they can all store raw information, their ability to mine it is comparatively limited. But store it they do anyway, as do the intelligence agencies, for the day when Skynet becomes self aware...
