    I have had a lot of input on this and have surprised myself on how passionate I am about it. I can only say this now.

    I have already said how my family is tied into Scotland. My ancestry can be traced right back. I didn't think that mattered much to me a born and bred Englishman, but evidently it must. More likely it is my time spent truck driving, property purchases and my fabulous golf holidays with good friends up there. Never once have I received less than the best hospitality. A Scotsman is a very generous person and true of heart in my experience. And I do actually care.

    I do not believe Alex Salmond is dishonest, I believe his intentions are sincere, However I do not for one minute think he is the driving force behind this whole deceitful vote. I believe it has been engineered over the last 15 years from Westminster ( probably longer), and there are people waiting to show their hand if the yes vote goes the way they want. More snides, but from the Scots side of the border.

    Will the politicians who are pushing this through be in power in five years time - NO CHANCE! Then we will,ask Where are the people who promised the fabulous change?

    Beating away at the voters from the opposition benches and feeling hopeless!

    Change it yes, but the promises they are offering now will disappear like cigarette smoke and leave the same lingering smell.

    Unity... ?

    I certainly have never in 50 years of life 30 of which have been politically aware ever felt a sense of Unity. Its often the case that when you say your from Scotland all deals are off, its to far to travel its to much trouble to send, can you pay in ENGLISH money ? As far as I can see from a number of comments not only on here but other forums too, we are quite simply seen as a bunch of heathen inbreed uneducated thrifty scroungers, begging for a few scraps off the Westminster table.

    SOLD UP THE RIVER , we have been sold up the river for years, now we have the opportunity to take control of our own destiny. If we are really honest here the real concern for Westminster is the loss of revenue and the representation to the rest of the world that they have no power to keep the country they govern together.

    The No camp to my mind have no integrity, Brown was a failure as a chancellor and a prime minister, Cleg has no commitment and sold you up the river on tuition fees, Darling jumps ship, and Milibland cant even be bothered turning up to speak to his supporters.. ! Advice from that motley crew is hardly inspiring, in fact its an insult.

    We will sit it out and see what the outcome will be, whatever it is it will be the result of a proper democratic process and we will run with it be it yes or no... One thing is for sure, this process has proved there is little respect in Scotland for the word of a Westminster politician.

    This is my opinion, right or wrong, it represents how I feel having experienced the blunt end of UK government politics. I have done a lot more research on the "evidence" for either argument, I don't take what either side of the press report as the gospel, neither did I accept the political arguments which tended to be a reciprocal tosh.. I looked for the answers in opinions provided by educated professionals independent of any any party influence, not simply folk repeating the same old stuff, weighed up the pros and cons and made my decision based on something that resembled facts, not the usual speculation. I'm pretty sure there will be a braveheart vote but they will have got it right by default :)

    That's about all I have to say on the matter, I accept your opinion and like that of the No camp I considered it and reject it. My vote is already cast :thumbsup:

    will I have to re apply for membership on Friday ? :thinking:

    Do you think we in Worcestershire or Yorkshire or Cumbria or Herefordshire feel any different? No we don't!

    The whole thing centres around London and the home counties, We have to live with that!

    The thing with people like us is, we get something in our head and run with it. we research stuff and we find facts to back our opinion or thoughts, so run with it and beat the drum. Quite often the thought is put in our minds subliminally, in the case of Scottish independence from birth. We are one island that speak with different accents, even regional languages, does that make us English, Welsh or Scots, maybe. but we remain an island race. To me the word union should not ever have been used. Britannia yes. but divided up and joined by jingoistic words it stinks - a tool for the rulers to use at their leisure. like now.

    You are right on the No vote lot, but then they have never had any integrity. they are politicians! You are still being duped, by both sides and there is jack you can do but cast your vote. I truly hope whatever the outcome YOU personally are better off! But somehow, I doubt it.

    This ^^^ I really think that the Scots think that we all have it easy down here and live in some sort of utopia, nothing is further from the truth, i'm from yorkshire and Thatcher made most of it a wasteland, we all have an axe to grind but we don't all act like victims. But I do think that this is also going to kickstart lots of rebellion down here

    I know its not easy for anyone these days, but perhaps this is the push that's needed to make a change for everyone, not just Scotland. To some degree that's what its all about. Its making a stand to force a change.. for me, there is a hope that if we get the chance we can make things even better for Scotland but its far from a forgone conclusion. Sure we could live to regret the whole process regardless of the outcome, but at least we will be able to say we took the chance and didn't just accept the same old.

    This could be the wake up call needed to fire up the English to force for a fairer system for England, the midlands and north might see some investment and even those that live outwith the stockbroker belt might be provided with a wee bit of hope. Pipe dream, probably, but if you don't try you don't get ..

    So in the end they saw sense :thumbsup: it's now Englands turn to tear it's self apart and try and grab our own power back from Scottish MP's and have only English MP's voting on our issues

    Rabbie said it best in his poem "Such A Parcel of Rogues In A Nation" written in 1791

    Fareweel to a' our Scottish fame,
    Fareweel our ancient glory;
    Fareweel ev'n to the Scottish name,
    Sae fam'd in martial story.
    Now Sark rins over Solway sands,
    An' Tweed rins to the ocean,
    To mark where England's province stands-
    Such a parcel of rogues in a nation!

    What force or guile could not subdue,
    Thro' many warlike ages,
    Is wrought now by a coward few,
    For hireling traitor's wages.
    The English stell we could disdain,
    Secure in valour's station;
    But English gold has been our bane-
    Such a parcel of rogues in a nation!

    O would, or I had seen the day
    That Treason thus could sell us,
    My auld grey head had lien in clay,
    Wi' Bruce and loyal Wallace!
    But pith and power, till my last hour,
    I'll mak this declaration;
    We're bought and sold for English gold-
    Such a parcel of rogues in a nation!

    Am unsure if it's like being in a relationship and your partner has just farted for the first time in front of you.

    Or if it's like being in a relationship and you have one of those talks, and your partner tells you they don't love you anymore.

    The Scots are more savvy than they were given credit for. Good luck to them and lets hope it has shaken up the weasels in Westminster.
