Cheers Nick. The extra effort to line the floor tiles up properly and to try and keep the laminate grain matching, is well worth it.
Started the last two cabinets this weekend. This is what the headbanger and Rear locker look like when in pieces. Unlike the cabinets in the main area, these cabinets also use staples to stay together. Care needs to be taken in taking them apart. If I was doing this again I would think about trying to re laminate these units whilst in one piece. Anyhow, all parts are now laminated waiting trimming. Target is to have it all done by the Battlesbridge show in 3 weeks time.
Absolutely. In fact Master Lofty and myself put the two cabinets back in tonight. Tomorrow I can start packing it all up for camping again. Photos will follow when it is light again.
So finally finished after a very enjoyable but hard work project. Last pictures are below. If anyone has any questions on how I did anything that I have not already mentioned above, let me know and I will try to help.
i read your post with interest and to keep the records up with pictures when you have enough on your plate is fantastic. the use of the router interests me as ive got to try and build an interior from stratch. great post - thankyou
I missed the final pics somehow when you posted them but they're worthy of a four letter word! ******* hell that looks good!
Fantastic job! It looks brand new! What did you use for the edges of the cabinet? Was it the same sheet laminate you used for the panels or the more flexible stuff that comes rolled up like tape?
Sorry but I missed your post. The edges are the same laminate as the fronts. I cut strips about 3mm oversized on each side and used the router to take it down flush. The trick is to the edges first and the front last. Then you do not see the edge of the laminate so much.
Had to bump this as I'm about to do the same thing on a Berlin kitchen unit, but re laminating it in the early style westy laminate to match the rest of my interior. This thread has been a godsend and gives me a bit more confidence going into it. Cheers Lofty.
