Nothing like it used to. If there is a big gust it now takes much less input to avoid getting blown about as there isn't the slack in the system.
That's good news, but it wasn't windy today. I'd love to take it for a drive at TE, I'm insured (3rd party).
Mine used to wander about all over regardless mate, it doesn't now! With a heavier rack I think it'll be bloody lovely!
Right, I've done a good few miles in this now and can honestly say it is bloody lovely! The engine and steering mods have made it a pleasure to drive again, and I love it! Happy days.
Paint sorted. Any Bristol peeps looking for paint; I can't recommend Martin @ Peel's MotorKraft enough. He's done my van and my car in the last few weeks and the match / finish is perfect. Just back from some steering adjustments too, drives like a modern car (ish) Happy days
The bus is currently back at Peel's having the poptop repaired and painted. Should be back in the next few weeks. I'm currently looking into the Subarugears box too.
Roof off yesterday to see what state the metal was in: Plenty or scummy bits to cut out but the guy doing it isn't fazed. Be back on the road soon enough. Happy days.
Make sure he repairs the frame underneath too if it's spread under there, it's quite easy to just repair what you can see and leave the structure underneath. I recently took my roof off to repair the three areas where the hinges attach. This was the worst one at the front.......... The other two hinges need localised repairs of about 2inches long, this one however had allowed water in and it had spread into the frame, I kept chopping / chasing the rust and this is where I ended up! Now I know why people in the know say avoid rusty gutters! Hopefully water hasn't got to your frame too, good luck.
Cheers @optimistic, I'll find out in the next day or so. I shoved my finger through a couple of the holes and the structure beneath is still shiny metal. Only cutting the roof skin out will give us a proper look though so fingers crossed!
