After weeks of carefully adding parts to my new long block I have noticed that a push rod tube on number 1 has been dented :-(. I am now feeling well out of my depth restoring the camper and losing the love a little. My question is can anyone reccomend a garage or somebody who could help fix the camper that is close by to Bourne, Lincolnshire. Many thanks
Don't panic!!! If the rod doesn't hit the inside of that tube and the tube isn't holed it doesn't matter. If it does hit it but it's not holed, remove rod, shove summat down the tube and prise it a little straighter so rod doesn't hit it. Might not look pretty, but if your engine is built up and installed it'll save you a lot of bother and you'll soon forget it. BTW I wouldn't be able to fit that in for quite a while i.e. months.
Zed I right ,after a few weeks they will be rusty anyway ... They are so thin you can stick a rounded bar down the head end and just manipulate the dents out
Thank you for your advice, i think as it gets closer to maybe having a useable bus these set backs get more and more frustrating. I will give this a go.
^as above, if there's no hole in the tube, it'll be fine. You could maybe try pushing the dent out with a rod down the tube. They'll go rusty in no time, anyway
