Vinyl used on Devon interiors?

Discussion in 'Camper Conversions' started by Big Lee, Apr 12, 2014.

  1. Just after a bit of advise, my original devon interior panels/cards were covered in a very thin vinyl, by the looks of it it was done at the time of the original coversion. Was just wondering if anything simular was still available. I have used the original panels as templates to make some new ones out of plywood.. Any advise would be greatfully recieved

  2. got any pics ?

  3. yes but you need to sorce it from a proper coachtrimmer with good stock.....the best place I've come across is Segals' in Manchester....they have all the usual stuff (scrim, hooding, headlining, leather, piping, rubber, mouldings, seals, fasteners, adhesives, sundries etc, and stock some really good quality Vynide, Ambla, Sunbrella etc. plus old British made vinyl that makes the TMI stuff look like sticky back plastic...Worth the trip if you're fairly local....http://www.segalmotortrimmings.net/

it's like a trip down memory lane in there...they have all the old british leyland bus cloth and stuff for train seating....you could spend hours in there if that's your thing...

  4. just seen you're in suffolk....bit of a trek! But, if you know exactly what your looking for, send them a sample....pretty confident they can find a good match

last time i was there they had the off white slub vinyl (bit like anaglypta) that devon used to use on the side panels....long time ago though

  5. No pics im afraid, the old panels were completely shot so i made templates and binned them.
Manchester is a bit far for me, im in Suffolk..shame as that sounds like somewhere id like to have a look around

  6. Will get in contact with them, sounds like the stuff im after. Thanks for the heads up :)

  7. hope you get sorted....

  8. @Hulkmeister has my original devon panels. he may be able to take a pic for you/ snip off a sample?

  9. Thanks Vanorak, and thanks Ermintrude, ill have a double check i have a feeling i may have one of the smaller panels still kicking about  fingers crossed

  10. Cheaper to look out for a earli old vinal clad settee from a junk shop I did a back peice and it looks the same as origional and cheaper.

  11. Think im sorted now, went to the range of all places, they had a very simular thickness vinyl (colour is a little more beige) for £5.90 a metre i can live with that :)
