  1. Progress so far. Been building units and getting them into rough positions.

And dishwasher arrived today so plumbed it in roughly so I didn't have to wash up tonight. More time for drinking cider then :)

  2. And sink side. Which is a bit like "state side" but in my kitchen. Y'all here what I'm saying? Have a nice day now
Stuck the old sink on top of new unit for temp measures. Inserted the dancing child merry go round in floor

  3. You realise someone's nicked the front panel off your dishwasher?

  4. Change of direction, going for an industrial minimalist look now

Today was a bit slow, lots of thinking and head scratching to solve problems, making alterations, so not much to show. All units on cooker side levelled and fixed in place. Pan drawers made up but no handles yet

Still shuffling those old tops around, might end up leaving them there when I've lost interest and can't be arsed. Oh no, I'm married that won't be allowed to happen!

  5. Lovely stuff - keep going. Nothing like a good rework/clearout of crap - your chi will be wafting up your trouser legs.

  6. Should create a good flow then, what with the violent downdraft from my buttocks wafting down the other leg!

  7. love the bowl under the U tube [just in case]...:D

  8. The sink trap is slightly broken so is dripping a bit. Until enough food bits off plates clog up the leaky bit. That's the proper way plumbers are taught to fix leaks

  9. Despite months of planning and measuring on my part, I forgot the major fact that everything in this house is on the p1ss, Went to fit a wall unit which butts up against the arch and of course the arch isn't straight so the unit wouldn't fit, so hacked a shape out of arch

Fitted wall units. They're 900mm tall, so bigger than normal. So I can hide stuff at the top and my little wife can't reach!

    Sexy curved doors

  10. Get those floor tiles down!

  11. could you not move the fridge over a tad

  12. Doing floor next, continue the oak through from the dining room/sex parlour.
NO! The fridge stays where it is so the little people can reach over the fence and open the doors half an inch and leave it.
It will be the focal point in the absence of a fireplace. Just think, spazzed out in front of the box after 6 tennents super, reach into freezer for a findus crispy horse pancake, then eat it raw yummy

Got most of the floor down today. Need it down now before finishing sink side as all the appliances and end panels need to sit on top of floor.
It's the same oak floor as all through the rest of house so will be seamless all the way through. Although laminates not ideal for kitchen it's pretty hardy stuff, and because I had some anyway it's worked out cheaper and easier than any other option. Should tie in nice with the oak worktops.
Starting to look good I think

Starting to look the part now. The worst kitchen I ever did was my mums, I was fitting one end of the room and she was cooking the other. It's not easy doing the work while you're living there. It is looking good and  on the wall unit cock up.:p

  15. Yep it's been a bit crap trying to do it and keep it usable. Been living on takeaways and microwave meals! Wouldn't do it differently though, I want to do it myself (well my dads been round to lend a hand) not just to save money but just because I want to! I've done the rest of my house so why not! Be worth it in the end

It's great to be able to take it on yourself. I know what it's like living amongst the destruction. I moved into my second house with just a bathroom stood in place, dust sheets for doors, no floor finishes, plasterboard for work tops. The only 100% finished room was my daughters. I found everything just takes that much longer to get done. You just end up shuffling stuff about all over the house to make room to work.

Like you say....be worth it in the end:)

  17. Very nice! Might be a bit slippy, tho'?

  18. That's the fun! If I run in my front door fast enough (wearing just socks) I can slide right the way through and then commando roll through conservatory and land in garden

Hmmmm. Wearing just socks to run in front door. Do I mean socks no shoes, or JUST socks. .?
