Us Aussie vans don't have m plates

 

Bummer. Are oz vans CKD's like South Africa or were they actually manufactured in oz?

Then won't there be a plate somewhere, behind the seat, under the dash? There will still be a chassis number hard stamped in the engine bay surely?

Ta. What is the implications of that as far as manufactured date is concerned. Mine is a 74/75 I think

 

there will still be a chassis number for a close idea of manu date, just no m-plate for despatch spec's etc. landrover did the same.

 

The plate will be for the compliance to ADR27A (Australian Design Rules)

It's only 20 euros if you want a letter, put it in the notes box on the fill in bit, they charge you 50 as you put your card stuff in, few days later when they process it you will get a 30 refund. The certificate is good but if your only wanting it to show the Dvla then the letter Will do.

Yes, the point being the letter and certificate might say its younger than you'd like...

 

TC is a 72 but he's been SORNED for years anyway. Red, on the other hand, is a 75 so my fingers are crossed really tight that it's gonna be a rolling exemption like it was originally but I'm not holding my breath for 2 years.

My Betsy was born on the 20th December 1973! Is that late enough? Wasn't registered in the UK until August 2007... Will that affect things?

It's date of manufacture, not date of first use/registration

 

When the Chancellor makes the announcement to confirm his promise in the budget, and then writes to the DVLA instructing them of the band and rates change for Historic Vehicles. Still waiting for the confirmation, as he's sent nothing to the DVLA so far, ask them, they aren't aware of anything.
