just been on the news http://www.itv.com/news/meridian/up...or-ferry-on-dramatic-final-voyage-onto-shore/
WOW, they might have finished scrapping the others first but i expect they have been down the back of the couches for all the change already.
Imagine the forms you would have to fill in to perform that manoeuvre in this country. I guess the other two boats are left there to stop the new one falling sideways!
i used to slam my boat up the beach like that between the sun bathers we did warn them but they liked the thrill of playing chicken
Saw this the other day. Love the little fire on the sea shore is it to guide him in. The men don't even flinch.
Very sad end, mind you she was evidently only fit for razor blades. The place to see the big stuff dragged up and gnawed to bits is Alang beach India, only difference besides the scale is the appalling ground pollution and working conditions of the locals.
I saw a program about the Canberra, it was scrapped on a beach in India or somewhere like that, They reckon they lost money on it as it was so well built it took them too long to take it apart.
As you said, Very sad to see that done to a ship, imagine the millions of happy travellers that sailed safely on her, and she is finished off like this! Tony
Not so bad when taken apart alongside a berth in dock but when dragged up a beach and broken up its seems worse particularly somewhere like Alang where large lumps of superstructure can litter the beach before further breaking up takes place.
Expect the dialogue between the Captain and the Pilot would have been interesting too without the thrill seekers out on the wings having fun.
