WANTED prototype bay/Early Late Bay Poptop

Discussion in 'Late Bay Classifieds' started by Chris Berry, Oct 17, 2013.

  1. prototype bay/Early Late Bay Poptop wanted (I.e Tax Exempt from next April). Prefer a Westy, Dormobile or
Devon in that order of preference. Van needs to be running. Not expecting perfect condition but should be in good condition. Should have a functional interior, preferably with fridge and stove, r&r bed and storage. Paintwork should be in good condition but imperfections are acceptable (I realise I may need to do some rusty touchups!). Goes without saying that should be rot free (as possible) and solid underneath. Colour would be preferably blue or green but would judge whether I like each bus on its merits. I expect there to be ongoing maintenance and have no illusions in that my budget will not get me a perfect bus. Budget is circa £7k. Cheers, Chris.

  2. Anybody out there?

  3. no interest in ours then?

What you describe is the mecca of bus hunting on a budget. i.e. a bus that just needs a bit of the sort of tidying anyone could do.
Perhaps you could consider a US LHD import which are often just as you describe. I think a UK bus in that condition doesn't exist - they tend to rot here and if not, or restored, command a higher price.
    Good luck.

  5. Cheers Zed. Had thought as much and I am speaking to various uk based importers as well as a US based seller. Quick question, do you have any advice on getting the bti
document completed as would rather pay 5 percent VAT than 20 percent. What I info do I need to include? Tried to get hold of DUBious but cant seem to (for advice) Cheers, Chris.

  6. Sorry mate had a look but think Im gonna go down the import route.

This is the cargo floor where the under seal is pealing off! That is factory fresh paint you can see. :)

  9. The Bti bit isn't too much to be worried about. You will need to complete a form supplied by the UK agent where you enter the vehicles details, it's no longer in production and is in original condition - therefore a vehicle of classic/historic interest. Then form varies slightly from agent to agent but that's the rough details you'll need.

    Hope that helps :)

  10. Yeah that's great and precisely what Kingstown have said :)

  11. My search is over, thanks to all who have posted, much appreciated :)
