Cheers boys it's nice to see some progress cos it's been a long slow road. Been at it all weekend but I haven't got much to show for it as for some reason a layer of filler which was my last one didn't go off and I don't know why. I have spent today rubbing off the soft filler and redoing what I did yesterday . Strangest thing is I have know idea why as I mixed it the same as always and never had it before, I don't know if it might be the damp weather. Anyway it's done and hopefully I will be priming the other side before the end of the week, will get some pics up. So place you bets now, who thinks she will be on road for Xmas?!
Er in doors has booked her in for her mates wedding at Xmas so the pressure is very much on, hopefully in paint around the end of the month. Maybe.
So took my cab doors, bumpers, disk backing plates and engine lid into the shot blasters a couple of weeks back and pleased to report on the whole good news and most of it has come back intact As they where dropped off Doors are good, already did some repairs on them so good to see nothing els pop up. Engine lid is like new, apart from the bloody mastic which appears to have held the bus together for years. Backing plates need a bit of straightening but solid. Front bumper is like new but and it's a full bodied surprised but, I think the rear bumper is slightly past it's best lol. So looks like I'm after a back bumper if anyone has one please
Been a little while but cracking on. Got my doors flat and in primer Also got my van fully ready for primer which I am doing this week Got the doors to prep and it's in paint end of next week with my new painter very exciting!
Got my engine bay painted today, officially pleased with it!! If all goes well will be in paint shop at weekend
Yeah cheers, can't wait for her to be in paint. Quick question for y'all, the track cover mounts on the side of the van. Are you meant to seam seal between them and the window frame or leave a gap? When I started they where both full of filler and rotten underneath :/ Cheers
There's a plastic bead insert for that which also protects the paint as you clip the side cover into it's holder.
The gap between the v channel and the window frame? I would seal the top but not the bottom, so water can't get behind to your welds, but if it does.. It can escape out the bottom.
Cheers peeps. Got her fully in primer this week ready for paint at weekend, well pleased with how she is going. Sorry for all the pics but it's very exciting!
