They were rare - have you decoded the M plate then?

  3. That looks a beauty. Did westfalia have UK dealerships?

  4. 4300!??! WFT??

  5. looks scammy to me

  6. Leave it johnny ....have a snickers ......

  7. No - didn't know you could but have just researched and you can - so I will! - Thanks.

The reg document and shows 1974 and the chassis no ends in 4. (We also found that 1974 doors fitted and not those with the later hinges!!

Its likely it was bought on special order for RHD in Germany then imported into the UK in 1977 (hence the 1977 UK registration date)

  9. I don't think there were ever any UK Westy retailers at the time. We do have another RHD Westy (taiga green) RHD. The history proves that one was first b ought by a member or our forces posted in Germany and brought back home with him on his return to the UK. We suspect this is the same for the one I'm selling.

I think it's fair to say by the fact that @Steve has rapidly answered the questions posed that this ad isn't the scam. But if you'll take 4300 as your vno I'll happily oblige ;)

  11. Maybe @Steve wasn't aware of TLB's mandatory price matching policy? If only he had read the small print. ;)

Hi Steve - It is a post may 73, and that makes it rare as Westfalia gave up making rhd Westys for the uk market around about then and only did them to order.

I like the interior very much - kinda would have preferred the og one though, good luck with the sale.

You could buy Westfalia's through UK VW dealerships to order - but they tended to be the dealerships that also sold Devon's on reseller terms so you had to get past the salesman selling you what was a cheaper vehicle (I don't mean any offence with that, factually Devon's were cheaper when new) - this is why rear hinge Westy's are kind of rare.

@Steve you'rs is called a Malaga - there are a couple on here, including mine.

Unsure why your's is on a 'S'plate - all the Malaga's I've seen (I know of 12 from ebay, here, show's I've seen across the years) are on an N plate, though there is on M, one P and one on a T - these can only be refitting of an earlier interior.

You seem to have a later US spec roof and seats, and your interior has been re-formica's (looks really nice though!).

Nice looking bus - best of luck with the sale!

Very plausible - I know a few guys in the forces stationed there that did this as it was good for tax, though they all went with LHD cars as they spent more time driving over there - but yeah, sounds reasonable enough.

  18. Thanks for the info and to @Moons. The history of these things is always a bit of a mystery. The interior was wrecked so it was taken out and every part rebuilt - we did try to keep as OG but I know it is lighter. It has been used as a hire vehicle hence the vinyl seats. I didn't know it was a Malaga. I did know it was rare!
