Will 17 inch rims fit my late bay?

  1. Ok, the wheels are without a doubt 17x7 and 5x112. I got the wheels brand new in the box from VW with all the booklets, and information on the wheels. here are the pics, and if you want to know specific info on them I can look it up and post it for you here. I'll make an offical page on this site by the weekend.

  2. Great News: I found my powder coating guy! He gave me a great price to powder coat all 4 of my new wheels for $250! Going to powder coat the black part of the wheels the same color as the top of my Bus! What do you guys think???

  4. I was thinking of getting a set of these when they started turning up second hand cant afford a new set have you tried one on yet will the center hole fit ok

  5. i supose it depends on the depths of the tyre, and if the van has been lowered, hit a pot hole and you will know what i mean,

  7. No, I havent tried one yet. I'm currently parting out my Cabriolet, and its sitting up on all 4 of my jack stands. However, I guy is coming tomorrow morning to take the shell away. Also another guy is coming to by my cookie cutters at the same time. If everything works out, I'll have time to fit them and jack stands to support them on while fitting.
Also suppose to meet up with my powdercoat guy to drop them off. He says he needs 5 days with them.

  8. Good news!

Dropped my wheels off at the powdercoat place last night. They guy said it should only take 3-4 days!!!

    Bad news!

Just found out that the center bore of my rim may be too small to fit my bus?! May be an issue with drilling the holes larger after, and not before powdercoating. Have another shop in Waldorf, MD. (about 17 miles away from my house) that can drill the rims for a larger center bore. The rims are NOT hub centric, so having them drilled to fit is OK. Just more money necessary to spend before buying tires and mounting them!

Any idea what the center bore needs to be to fit these wheels??? Is it 60mm?

  9. Centre bore is 66.6 I think. (yes, seriously)

  10. Well, that may be a slight problem... I guess I'll have to drill them out after Powder Coating. I just got them back, and they look great! Here are some pics, what do you guys think?:

  14. I have an idea about the center bore issue (57.1 wheel bore, vrs. my bus with a 66.6) but I good remedy would be to drill the Heritage rims to 67mm. Im wondering will the 17x7 Heritage wheel with a ET of 47 fit without spacers?

Also, going to run 215/55/17, or 215/50/17 tires. Will this work?

If not, how much modification would be needed?

about to change clothes now and head into the garage...

The Bus is on albros adjusters up front (bus boys) (maybe 4 1/4 inch low; cranked all the way down). The rear is on wagenwest 4 inch horseshoes. I'll take plenty of pics!

  15. Ok, I did not get very far the other day. I tried to mount the wheels on the front first, knowing the center bores are 57.1, and my buses bores are 66.6. I then tried the rear and couldn't get my rear tires off!!! They keep scraping the inside of the fenders??? All I have are stock wheels on 185/70/14's, with 4 inch lowering horseshoes??? I even tried the angle trick, and couldn't get them off without peeling off my white walls??? Going to try it again with a VW buddy tomorrow (if I can find him). Here are some pics of my failed workings:

  16. Ok, I got good news, and GREAT news!!!

So I was thinking to myself as to why I was having so much trouble getting the back wheels off to do a test fit. And, it came to me! I also have lowered shocks (Busboys) installed!!! I disconnected the bottom of the shock, and it all came down! Still had to fight a little to get the tire out (scratched up my original wheels powdercoat a little putting the original wheels back on after fitting the Heritage wheel) and more back on, but its done! And I have pics to prove it. I want to appologize for the super large pictures in advance. I'm not sure yet on how to resize them before posting. Today, I also got the centers of 2 (that's all I could afford right now) wheels bored out to 67mm!!! Technically, that's all you need because the rear center bores fit without modification, and I ran out of money for now! he rear wheels just barely fit! The rear wheel did turn freely but I bet two credit cards stacked on top of each other would keep the wheel from spinning! may need 5-8mm wheels spacers in the future. Here are all the pics of my crazy day! Post up! Let me know what you think!!!
