Reason Im asking is Im going to be making a overhead locker for our bay this weekend and wanted to start the way I mean to go on as at some point want to replace the rest of the furniture in the bus.
I want to hopefully find something that looks like original with veneer like a westy or like this... (Can I get this from B&Q or Wickes?

If this is too difficult, I would like to then get some wood like in this van...

Yes one of my favourites. It was up for sale about 3 months ago for 18k. Man if I had the cash I would have snapped it up.

  4. it looks like an oak grain in the bus. :)

For the vaneered or laminated stuff you'll probably have to order it in from a timber merchants.

Marine/standard ply is a good strong, light board but is often expensive, edges need some work to look presentable.

Standard MDF is heavy and swells a lot when moist, however it is cheap, cuts well and edges are fine. Water resistant versions are available.

I'd stay away from chipboard and OSB.

Thanks Horts. I was thinking about Marine Ply before but it is very expensive. Im really into getting it looking either original looking with veneer or like that very sexy bus.

  13. Yep - we are getting the classic interior from SJH in darker wood than the photo:

It'll have an extra cupboard where the fridge space and an extra drawer :)
It's going to make such a difference to our van's space!

    Wowzer thats lovely :)

  15. I love nicely done interiors in a timber finish and oak is lovely but if you go too heavy with the worktop and dont contrst it with something then it ends up looking like a coffin!

  16. Thanks - he was set up right near us at VolksWorld and we just fell in love with it and decided to bite the bullet and stick it on credit card - it's the first 'ready made' new interior I've seen that I've liked and that I thought would suit Arthur...

Is Oak heavy? Is it easy to pick up at Wickes or B&Q?
