They aren't as nuts as they look for the run ended at a pub with hot showers and good food and plenty of ale.

So....3 1/2 years after my last run, and after a couple of weeks practice on the treadmill I've been out today for my first road run. 3.8 miles in 50 minutes - not half bad! Was very weird as I can no longer feel my feet after my back surgery, going down hill at full pelt wasn't much fun - had to slow down just to make sure my feet were on the floor. Couldn't believe the distance I'd clocked when I mapped it back at home - very, very pleased Fully expected to be home in a heap after half a mile!

Matt Whitfield of Notts A.C. won last year's race in 33:32 with Greg Southern as runner up in 35:16. Clair Spencer of Newark A.C. was first lady home in 39:18 with Rebecca Taylor runner up in 40:28. This will be the third running of this midsummer evening 10km road race organised by Grantham Running Club in the quiet lanes around Long Bennington. It will be even bigger than last year with the race having a larger 350 runner limit. The accurately measured course whilst not pancake flat and despite the wind delivered many 'seasons best' and a few elusive pb's. The race started 432 metres from the 'Race HQ' - the Long Bennington Sports Pavilion, Main Road, Long Bennington, NG23 5HE and finishes at the entrance to the playing fields. The location is conveniently located off the A1 just north of Grantham. Sleaford Brewery will be supplying the Specially Labeled Summer Solstice Ale for all finishers PLUS a Real Ale Bar featuring cask Best Bitter, Pale Ale, Meadowbrook Cider and even their own Pilsner Lager, so hang about after the race and make it a social night! Food and soft drinks will also be available
I have a cunning plan for you sir, ones becomes a marshal. It works I did get the beer. Also you get to wear a hi-viz, stand in the middle of a road (open road) and have dicks with wheels drive fast as close To you as they dare.
