On the smev people, on the smev Neither of my control knobs will stay in, so you light the stove and then it goes out. I have previously got by with the innovative use of cutlery and wood shoved between the knob and the stove edge to force them in, but it's getting on my nerves and I'd like to fix it. .....erm....does anyone know how to??
I think they're supposed to come back out, there should be a heat dependant cut off that stops gas supply if the flame goes out, my one leaked the fluid inside it and did the exact same thing.
Hmm so if they are supposed to come back out, what is it that's stopping my gas from staying lit? Do you know what I need to take off and check (and how easy it is, not keen on killing myself!) Thanks Top Banana Racing!
Your flame failure devise , sometimes called a themocouple is not working,, Its a small copper wire that when heated by the flame , holds the magnetic gas valve open, if the flame goes out the valve will automatically close,
Marvellous. Will order new Thermocouple and then wait for lovely the bugcatcher to fit it for me. Have always said that he is a god amongst men.

THIRTY BLOOMING QUID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are bust on both rings. It'd be cheaper just to buy an entire new unit!!!!!!!!!!!
There is a slim chance that Plumb/parts center will have one , you need to take the old one out first,
There are a lot of mobile caravan fitters about - I was going to get someone to sort my leak until I found ...... Graham the Gas Man - 50 years in the business
