About 2 1/2 years ago on a Vancouver night stop, I received a text from him indoors that said 'you know that bus i was bidding on ebay, well congratulations, we are now the new owners of a not so shiny 1976 Bay Window Twin Slider......... Oh and by the way it doesn't have an engine' My reply was 'great...... What the hell is a twin slider'???? Oh and I don't like green........ Dolly Daydreams is a UK RHD twin slider with original bespoke wood interior (about the only original remaining intact part that couldn't be removed when we refurbished her) We have all her original service history which shows she was a real jet setter being serviced every six thousand miles from Dubai to Indonesia and many places inbetween. She ended up up back in Bristol from where she started her career only to have a new engine fitted and then off again for more adventures............ Finally coming to rest in Bridgewater, Somerset where she was left in a barn. It didn't take us long to find out the real condition she was in, I mean, what did I expect for £800...... Especially when him indoors over enthusiastically showed me how he was going to look driving it and subsequently fell out of the door, seat and all!!! I didn't think you could have rust on rust and so much rot. We needed a miracle and soon found it in the shape of Dan Munday of Dan Mundays Bus Stop....... I think at one point he did say it was the worst bus he had ever seen............ We weren't giving up on Dolly Daydreams yet.... And afterall we had found our merlin..... Fast forward a few years and here she is, our now cream bus and cream interior (my choice) We are hoping to do a few shows and Vanfest will be our first.... Just trying to order a tlb sticker to match the interior so please come and say hi if you see us. You will know Dolly Daydreams as we have it written on the rear window.....
Just worked out how to upload photos!!!! Will try to take some of the interior and sideways on soon.......
Sorry am not good with the iPad, hence repeat photos........ Van west will be first camping experience. If anyone from this neck of the woods is going we would love to follow you up!!!!
Hi, thanks, I take some more and load them on , I got the interior look , well the seats from a 1960 karmann ghia and all of the wood was still the original so lucky really , good luck on the hunt for the right interior
