I need to extend a door cable in the van but I don't know the name of the connectors/clamps. NOT my work or van in the photo. That frayed end would do my head in.
Probably have a VW name and a VW price to match….I assume that you are missing this item, wouldn’t the metal innards from a large chocolate box connector work?…
A factory wire joint would have a crimped or clamped joint, but that looks like a 30amp or 45amp electrical connector, stripped of it's insulation - possibly something a previous owner fitted? Just use a stanley knife to cut one connector off, then use it as they have.
Not a VW thing. The door handle in the back of my camper is quite low down, especially now that I've built the bed. I want to add a second handle further up, so I need to add a second cable to the original to make it work. So after someting to join two cables together - ables are pretty much the same as bicycle brake cables.
This is what I am trying to achieve. The lower handle uses a cable to operate. I just want to piggy back onto that cable and add a handle at the top. I'll clamp the two cables together and the cable going to the top will be enclosed in a bicyle brake outer cable to help prevent any rubbing. *top handle is a Vito Bonnet handle
Wire rope. Google that + connectors or whatever. e.g. "Stainless wire rope connector" one of many results:
It is the inner bit of an electrical terminal block, that someone's bodged up your broken cable with.
