I’m recommissioning the floor mounted heater for my van. The gasket that sits between the main housing and the plate that contains the burners has crumbled. What’s the safest/best gasket/sealant to use? I’m not sure if butane/propane gas has any negative effects on some sealants.
Not sure how it would react with butane either but i`ve used a good quality fireproof silicone to seal the exhaust vent pipe through the floor ...
I dont think that heater needs any added asbestos looking at that gasket. I would moisten it and work out a way to scrape it off in a bag to contain it. High temperature oven door silicone adhesive will create a gasket.
Hmmmm, there will have to be a judges review on that one as I'm sure others have Chortled in the recent past. Hooting with laughter may have been enough, and possibly Cackling, but a mere Chortle, I think the jury is still out on that one.... The prize was a monthly subscription to 'Physics teachers with Austin Maestros 1982-1986" so I can certainly put a word in for you if you would like the 1986-1994 version as a consolation prize?
Drinking free coffee down the plumbers merchants, probably. They did say they'd reply to the thread a week next Thursday, if they haven't got another job on.
Well in that case, I withdraw my request for the aforementioned prize, as I had been led to believe it was a subscription to the far superior title, ‘History teachers with leather elbow patches’ I feel cheated
