The top reservoir was low and brake pedal travel has increased since I fitted all new brakes and pipes but I can't see any leaks anywhere. I've topped it back up but the light still comes on when pedal is pressed. Sent from my SM-G981B using Tapatalk
As above, it'll come on if pressure in one (or both) of the brake circuits is low. Might be a pressure switch or air in the system, or you may actually have a leak in the system somewhere. Is the brake fluid level dropping?
This was standard for the US versions - checking if pressure working on both brake circuits (front/rear) similar. The late version indicate also the hand brake. But it is no fill level indication - there is something wrong with your electric or with the brake circuits or brake master cylinder. from theSamba.com:
I think the handbrake "warning" was actually a cheap "bulb test" for the brake warning, to make sure the bulb hadn't gone. Other ones used to be connected to the alternator: they'd come on with the ignition, then go out when you started the engine.
I read that sometimes, when filling an empty brake circuit, an airlock can occur between the top and bottom reservoir, and then the top one slowly becomes empty as it fills the bottom one. I assume this is what has happened to mine as I can not find any leaks. Sent from my SM-G981B using Tapatalk

Mine has always come on when I depress the brake pedal even after changing the whole system , wheel cylinders, brake pipes, master cylinder pads, shoes, pretty much everything.
Update I re-bled the rear brakes. There was lots of air in it. I managed to nip up all the brake pipes a touch just in case they were sucking air. Fronts were ok. I now have a good hard pedal again, and the warning light no longer comes on when I brake. Sent from my SM-G981B using Tapatalk
Success! I wouldn't fret about the unions. The DIN double flares seal pretty well with just a nip up. Overtightening can knacker them.
sounds like the warning light was doing its job then - glad you got it sorted. mine has a rubber grommet where the light should be - i sometimes wonder if i should try to get it working.
If you've just got a plastic blanking plug, likely that you haven't got the double pressure switch arrangement.
