When i was younger the only reason anyone watched the budget was to see if fags, beer and road tax was going up .
Now unless those subjects make headlines such as price /tax cuts they are never mentioned.
However its now clear that its gonna cost 10.1 percent more to tax your vehicle if it needs taxing , as in as last years budget it is hidden away inthe small print .
So for me with three vehicles that need to be taxed in the household, the headlines of the 5p fuel discount remaining( that we never got at the pump ) means zilch to me and millions of others if not everyone as any savings plus more will go on the taxing of the cars etc .
Idont know how the politicians can sleep at night for thinking of lowdown sneaky ways to lie ,con and cheat us .

Meanwhile France riot as the pension age is raised to 64. For once i think France can teach us something about how to treat those in power corrupting the people.

Thats because you were young then and all that mattered was fags ..booze and road tax . The rest has always been there .
Don't think any budget who ever has been in government has been exhilarating .

  3. And the French are always rioting, as they have little control over their government. It's traditional

It’s not only the young that worry about such things  **

What I really don’t like is headline vote enticing announcements eg. Child care , when these “ benefits “ , if not illusory , are for the future.
When policies eg . Abolition of max contribution to pension pots ( only relevant to the mega rich) takes effect within months..

Well, I think my state pension's going up quite a bit this year. Somebody's got to pay for it! Not to mention the workers who are supposed to be repairing all those potholes, they want their pay rise as well.

Why blame the government? Starmer would have to do exactly the same thing.

Car tax has been 10% increase since as
Long as I can remember, nothing hidden, I don’t think any of it’s hidden just some folk look at different things and presume none of the other stuff ever happened, but surely everything increases each year?

Of course its hidden,as i said in the first entry it used to be all we watched the budget for , now we have to wait for greater minds than mine to look through the small print and report on it three days after the headlines of what was seen on the TV. There was no mention of the road tax increase in parliment when the budget was announced there the othr day. And its been that way for quite a few years now .

thats because they announced it 20 odd years ago and said it would be every year , it’s not hidden at all the information is available or you wouldn’t know what is was :TTIWWP:

  18. At least it makes Macron think twice before doing anything controversial. Here we just tut and roll our eyes, which is why they get away with screwing us. France is awful with its decent roads, cheaper property, cheaper energy costs, same population as UK with 3 times the land, no Brexit etc. oh and decent weather too and no need to use the channel traffic jam to get to Europe.

    Apart from that, it’s rubbish

  19. But your personal allowance is frozen until 2028. So any increase in state pension will result in an increase in income tax on any private pension that you may have.

  20. I'm more annoyed that he did a sneaky u-turn and cancelled the planned 11p increase in fuel duty. I'll have to spend the £100 annual saving down the pub now (or £85 after the car tax increase).
