  1. Didn't do much to it myself but found out that some s**:mad::mad::mad:**gs had tried to steal my van while I was on holiday...
On the plus side, they've failed but they've managed to do a fair bit of damage in the process. :(

Is there anywhere on here not publicly visible? I need information about unlocking the steering lock and I'd rather not have that visible to anyone on the internet.

Bad luck ! But good luck they were basic incompetents rather than properly trying to steal it, as it's possible to get in several ways without damaging it.

I think that style of steering lock just has a tiny irreplaceable screw holding it in ( undo it don't drop it) . Go to C&C to sort out lock parts.

Disassembly documented in Bentley I seem to remember.

  5. Yes overall we consider ourselves lucky they didn't find the extra security in the van to get it to start (they had the contact on).

Most of the damages are easy to fix but the one on the tailgate. I don't know why they have tried coming in this way but they've destroyed the latch in the process and the tailgate doesn't close anymore...

Thanks for the info on the steering lock. I'll have a look at the manual with a calm head later.

Anyhow, having fun with police and insurance calls now. It's funny how you always wonder if it was a good idea to get them involved...

Stock washer system working now ...so no need for now to change to electric pump .
Thought i would give a real good look at the system . As said before, air leaking out of valve on the pipe to tank to pressure up , not the valve but loose on the connection, flared out a bit . nipped it back a bit plus a small cable tie stopped leak .

Pumped up system then water leaked big time down the S column , took apart and found someone for some silly reason fitted a rubber sleeve over the pipe entering the stalk pump and was leaking badly ...dont know if it was to be a quick fix attempt .
Anyway cut a bit back as plenty of slack then crimped with another small tie and now plenty of pressure and working well .
All the rubber pipe seems to be in good condition with no cracks and not going brittle and hard . So will leave as is .

Having looked at a lot of these over the decades, I think that was stock to increase the tightness of the feed which is always under pressure. I like the silent operation of the pressurised system.

Bought it a sliding window for the sliding door.

At least I hope that’s what I’ve done.
Knowing my luck it’s for a t25 panel van. Facebook marketplace can be a double edged sword when it comes to ‘bargains’.
(Please god, I’m joking, don’t let it be for a t25 panel van!!!)

  11. Think carefully where you want the open bit to be.

My openings are closest to the driver and passenger windows and I also have opening quarter light windows......so I have shed loads of air able to come in towards the front of the bus...I may have been better having the sliding window opening near the fixed rear windows.

Edit. Ignore me, you have only bought one sliding window...so it will open where it wants!

Took Pertronix Flamethrower dissy out to fit a standard one (trying to fix the random misfire). Standard one was poor to put the Pertronix Flamethrower back in.

That is a definite consideration (that I hadn't thought of, Doh!) - although I think the windows are designed to open a particular way (at the front rather than to the rear), so that if you're driving in torrential rain, the bit where one window slides over the other, is protected and rain can't be forced through the gap.
The only reason for this one is that the slider behind the driver (and behind my cooker) doesn't slide - partly because the upstand of the cooker is too high and blocks the window catch, but mostly because the combined brain of Techenders last year concluded my window aperture must have been welded in the past and the gap for the window has decreased by a millimetre or two, making it too tight to slide easily. Ergo, get a (LHS) slider for the opposite side, and either don't use the one behind the cooker, or replace it with solid glass and pass that (RHS) slider on to someone else.
    Any volunteers for techenders......? :D

Went out to try out my crank fire ignition.
Really smooth idle, timing advance/retard from the control computer worked properly.
Just like a 123 but I have learned a lot on the way.

Look, Ma! .. no rotor arm and the engine is running.

    20230305_165733.jpg

Then I took it back out as it needs a few more components and the computer needs some more firmware to deal with re-mapping the timing without having to recompile the firmware.

Put back in the rough old distributor.

It's the wiring chappie, not the mechanic chappie.... I don't want it back til it's all working as it did, just tidier.
I am regretting ever asking him to tidy it up and install a fusebox in the engine bay, to be honest, but here we are.

Just in case though.... do you happen to have a shotgun?
