Not trying to start world war 3 or anything but isn't @the2ems post on par with the one @3901mick posted? Or is it because one is a picture and the other one a cartoon? Like I said, not looking to get chastised or start a verbal war. Just wondered on peoples views.
On a personal level, I didn't find the cartoon funny either. However, using a picture of real human beings suffering (and crossing the channel in a rib is suffering) is poor taste.
Very good point, like yourself it’s hard to differentiate one that was not challenged with another on a similar theme that was. Not trying to defend either but Matt is a brilliant portrayer of life and satire. The other is a sad real life portrayal of real life. Not sure but must admit I found Matt’s slightly light hearted and satirical ( but close to the edge) whereas I found the photo not funny at all. It’s opinions isn’t it .
This is down to self moderation people shouldn’t have to explain what’s wrong with a post, but on the other hand no one wants to stifle free expression or humour.
As I see it, Matt's cartoon is a political statement mocking the French authorities while the2ems photo is suggesting a direct link between the Senegalese and asylum seekers.
