No hot water yesterday morning, and on checking no heating either. I assumed it had lost pressure, but for some reason didn’t just fill it from the remote loop like I normally do, but went up into the loft to have a look. F75 code on the screen, which Google showed could be a multitude of things. Water dripping out of the casing. Booked a British Gas appointment for 08:00 - 13:00 yesterday (this was about 10:30) assuming no one would show up. Hour later a cheerful gas man arrives. Quick check and the heat exchanger is leaking. Part ordered, bucket installed under drip and repressurised, and he’s off. 08:30 this morning he’s back with the exchanger and new pipes as apparently they can be a bugger to remove from the exchanger. Couple of hours later it’s refilled and tested with a clean bill of health. From fault to fixed in 24 hours. Can’t argue with that. Great service from British Gas.
We recently called British Gas out to our boiler, great service from them & he found another unknown fault. Job done, boiler working fine!
After the way that BG treated their staff in the recent industrial dispute I’d urge people not to use them. Perhaps try to find one of the hundreds of engineers that were forced out of their job when they refused to agree to a new contract forcing them to work more unsociable hours for less money. seeing as this forum is a hot bed of left wing activism I’m sure many of you will agree with my sentiments. power to the people comrades. Out of interest have you had the bill yet? I hope you nailed them down to a fixed price repair.
I wouldn’t give British Gas the steam off my @@@@. I know what the people who run that company are like. I worked for them so I’ve seen it from the inside.
£60 excess on my boiler maintenance contract which is about £18 a month. In the last year I’ve had the pressure vessel and the heat exchanger replaced, and a service. £300 for all that doesn’t strike me as too bad. I get the sentiment, but would a local gas engineer be able to match that; I doubt it?
Yes but if you had a local contractor i.e. @Merlin Cat then she would have stood on a wheelie bin and promptly fallen off much to your mirth and merriment all included in the price! I bet the British Gas man didn't do that!
Too right @Suss . I provide so much more for the money I’m very good at drinking tea and sitting having a cuppa and biscuits with my customers and having a chat.
