Hmmm. I'm just glad that some of the news programs are starting to highlight the issues. I'm kind of hoping their mistreatment of migrant workers, bigoted and homophobic views, capital punishment, etc. hit the spotlight so much that they regret ever getting involved
We should have boycotted, interesting all the 'we're just there to play football' from the players... but if you can play in Russia whats the difference. FIFA is the most corrupt international organisation out there.
I was about to say...he's wringing his hands now, but said nothing at the time. Deffo Brown Envelope. FIFA just stinks as an organisation.
Given the recent press coverage about Qatar, and the country's history of human rights abuse, the whole shebang will be overshadowed by multiple stories that are not football related. Can't say that I'm looking forward to the blanket coverage of the negative 'news' stories and football over the coming weeks.
Certainly a massive own goal I can’t see why they couldn’t see the issues would come and bite them I suppose they were just chasing the money
What’s the issue? After watching David Beckham’s tourist promotion vids, I’ve booked my flight and I’m on my way! How much has been paid for that? Anyone know? Strange as I thought he was supposed to be some kind of gay icon
Harsh on the players, but I hope the whole thing is a complete disaster in Qatar. US, Canda & Mexico in 2026 - slightly more sensible (although I don't doubt the brown envelopes will continue to be passed around).
To use a football analogy- Qatar has played a blinder. Said all the right things right up to the point where it's too late to rearrange it with a step-in host. FIFA's own mission to take tournaments to developing nations has failed spectacularly on this occasion. A proper own goal......
and here we have England fans waiting for the team to arrive ......paid to be fans by The Qatary gvnt more then likely " hey look world we are a very diverse nation " call me cynical
