Tbh I think that is a better option than a coach built. They tend to leak and end up with damp.

If I ever sold up it would still be a van and a big one at that. Maybe with a poptop.

  4. It’s got what I believe is called Vanagon syndrome. It drives nicely for about 15 mins then loses power and starts stuttering. Sometimes it overheats, sometimes not. It’s over fuelling. Sometimes , when attempting an incline the power decreases and the van becomes slower then does surges.

Since last December I have managed about 15 miles

Not the autosleepers..they're monocoque GRp and don't suffer from the usual damp

I do like davidofts. It’s a bit of a bind. Be under 2m so can be used regularly but on the other hand, bigger more spacious.

For 1 night we can manage in the van, but have two (growing up fast) boys, so any more than 1 night, eldest prefers a tent.

  11. Good luck, hopefully they don't mess you about. Had a fella wanted to swap his Cat S Peugeot for mine, plus the obligatory question about where was the toilet...........

  12. We had 5 sleeping in ours the a couple of weekends ago. Who needs more room……

I was yabbering on last night over dinner about camperising the T3 and having a summer exploring a bit of Europe - sounds good she says but we’d have to get rid of the Bay as it’s a bit daft having 2 campers - I shut up and got on with eating my Frango Piri-piri…

  13. It's ok for parking,it has hot water ,cold water, flushing toilet, diesel warm air heating, full size 3 way fridge , awning, pull out king size bed ,( can be 2 singles or a double ) rotating front seats ,electric fold away step ,oven hob and grill ,great fuel consumption, loads of storage and it starts

  14. Did you do the conversion yourself?

  15. Gotta do what you gotta do! We struggled with ours when the kids were…. Well, kids! So made more space by fitting viking roof, new layout and swiveley seats. We would like a “live in van” moving forward but the bay does for the two of us albeit with an awning for long stops. That ticks our boxes for now but I don’t think we’re making the most of our time and money really and want to do mor touring rather than driving to a camp site and staying there. We did quite a bit of touring with the kids and it did my nut in constantly erecting or packing away an awning and then there’s the issue of the luggage actually taking up the living space.

still considering a Sheldon roof like Duncs as that would certainly tick our boxes for now… provided I can find one. Probably still a market for the redundant viking roof . Most vans I look at other than T3s seem a bit short of room inside unless you go to a bigger van or coachbuilt you don’t solve the problem.

motorhomes and expensive factory or even after market builds are an expensive item to have laid up doing nothing for most of the year and smaller van conversions, whilst great for daily transport arent great for camping in!

This is why we're trying to convert our twin slider "Viano" (Vito based people carrier) in such a way as to still be able to use it as a daily .... ferrying grand kiddies one day, moving building materials etc the next, nipping off for a two-person break the next ....
Pop up roof and elecs now fitted (ish), "outdoor module" sink unit bought and waiting to be beefed up to cooking status, and the "tailgate casette" for either a bed or washroom being worked up on paper

    If you put a pop top on a Vito/Viano you're still under 2m at 1m96 :)

It's why people end up with caravans isn't it. Daily plus camping module.

Not worth changing for. If I was changing, it would be crafter etc. size

  20. I’m embarrassed to say it but for the last few years a caravan would actually have been a much better idea than the van as mostly it’s been driven to a site. Parked up and then driven back using the scooter for transport in the day!
