The "W" spring is what latches the indicator stalk in the left or right position. It fits in the switch housing on the opposite side to the indicator stalk.
Ok great, looks like one of the white plastic bits that the spring should fit round is broken so maybe it was loose , would explain why mine never self cancel, thanks for the help
If the horn works so do the brake lights as they on the same fuse, and you can tell if the brake lights work as the following traffic sits closer.they hang back a long way when they don't work.
Yeah one of them the lug the spring goes on is worn/ broken , it works ok but doesn’t return and yep the horn is wired to a separate switch ! Am trying to access the ignition switch as I believe it’s that that’s making my indicator relay buzz and blow the fuse. Also recently the door buzzer works without the key in ignition
If your indicator relay buzzes and blows the fuse you have a short in either the hazard flasher switch or the indicator switch, or the indicator bulb holders/wiring are shorted out. The ignition switch only provides power to the indicator fuse. My handbrake lever shorted one of the indicator bulb circuits when I pulled hard on the handbrake indicating right.. A different non-switched circuit feeds the hazard switch for hazards. When fuses blow look for foreign metal objects balanced on top of the hazard switch as a start point.
Ok so I’ve replaced the hazard switch replaced the ignition switch disconnected the turn signal switch checked the bulbs & contacts at the indicator lights replaced the relay 3 times but still as soon as I switch on the ignition the relay buzzes and blows no. 11 fuse, any help would b great
That seems like you have still got the flasher relay output connected to chassis somehow. One or more of the wires you swapped over as was and still is/are in the wrong place or is damaged. Disconnect battery and then connect an ohm meter to the tag on the hazard switch 49a that the flasher relay feeds..If it indicates less than 1 ohm or so to chassis, thats a short. Then there are relatively few wires that have the flasher relay connected directly to them.. 49a on the hazard switch if the hazard switch is pushed in, the centre contact of the left-off-right indicator switch and the tag on the back of the instrument cluster with the indicator bulb in it. If its not a short there then hmm.
Finally found the fault, as you suspected the blue/ red wire from the relay to the dash indicator bulb was trapped under the bolt that holds the steering column causing the short , thanks for the help
