Worth maybe 1 degree C insulation. Condensation on windows - still happens. Privacy- good compared with thin curtains. Suckers tend to fall off unless carefully moistened to make them stick. Suckers get "crumpled" and hard to stick. Any stickers on the glass inside stop suckers working. Wont stick on louvred windows unless you are lucky as the panel of insulation is cut for OG glass.. had to add velcro on mine for a Devon louvre. A faff when you have been to the bar.. I still use mine
I never had curtains, I just used the thermo mats for years , they don’t keep much light out , having slept with no curtains etc they do offer some insulation and some light reduction, no worse than un-lines curtains I would say
Great as sun shields in summer! (Silver side out) or for discos in winter (silver side in!) I use them with curtains and they do help but couldn’t say how much. In my experience they do cut most of the light out. They are always annoyingly slightly too small so the light is screaming at you from the gaps!
I have a set, and agree with what’s already been said. They’ll take up more storage space than expected (mine are behind the cab seats), whereas curtains or blinds (I have blinds) are a permanent feature. I plan on adding material around the outside edge of the covers with sewn in magnets. That way they will fully block the light, remain reversible for discos, eliminate the suction cup issues and be easy to slap on & off. www.transmission610.com
I quite like them They defo make the van warmer in the cold, and cooler in the summer. Also, unless you have blackout curtains, it means you don’t wake up at 4.30 in summer they are a bit of a faff and take up storage but I think they are worth having
I’ve had my JK set for 15 years. Never had curtains. I like them. Use double sided sticky Velcro on the lovre window
You reckon!! That would explain it!!! I was sure they fitted when o got them but never considered they would shrink!
Yup 100 percent. Am I right in thinking the older ones like ours are a bit thicker than the latest offerings, or have I made that up? I'd like some replacements but have been reluctant to pull the trigger. In any case I've got to get the semi-permanent one out that's behind the tall cupboard coz it's become a ladybird graveyard following last summer's mini infestation
