Something a bit different for my good friend Rich’s rat look golf.
The bone stock interior of his golf didn’t quite match the ratty look of the rest of the car so we’ve redone the headrests with coffee sacks! We’ll be doing his door panels too over the winter.

Danny had a slight change of plan on his camper interior so asked us to make a further 4 door cards for him to match the 2 cab door cards we did a few months ago. Thanks Danny!

  7. Just found this thread, what fabulous work you continue to do James and I do hope that it turns a motivational profit. Have you thought of doing poptops? I understand its best accomplished with a special machine for the long straight seams??

Thanks Martin! I'm going down to a 4 day week from February next year so will have a bit more time to keep up with the upholstery work and get the bug on the road for spring (hopefully!).

I've had a few enquiries about doing poptops so it's not out of the question. What type of machine is that? I've an industrial walking foot machine which will happily handle most things I throw at it and would handle poptop fabric just fine (straightness of the seam in theory is just down to the skill of the operator).

We love seeing pictures of your vans with our interiors in! Danny kindly sent us these of his van before and after restoration, and now with an interior to match its clean new look.

Great work James, I just have to decide what colour combinations I want before I plunge into the camper interior....

  12. Hi James, my friend a sailmaker was not sure he could do justice to the long seams of a concertina pop top, perhaps he did not have a longish bed beyond the foot. I am sure your machine and steady hands could do it fine, judging by the great work here. He did make good suggestions about material and kindly got me some samples from Kayospruce in Fareham. I will do some work on a proper diagram of what I think Lottie needs and PM you IDC to see if it is something you might be interested in.
    Very Best Martin

A huge thank you to everyone that has booked in for upholstery work with me this year. I’ve had the pleasure of working on 7 bays, 4 T25s, 3 beetles, a Porsche, a RIB, a golf and a taxi!

I wonder what exciting projects will come my way next year? It should be a good one as I’ll be getting my Baja bug back on the road and making the most of our camper on a much needed camping trip or two.
I’m currently booked up until the end of March so if you’re after any upholstery work before summer please do get in the touch.

Some repair work needed on this as the passenger side only had 1 spring supporting it, so 4 new springs were fitted to give it a bit more strength.
