Ok so thought id start a thread to document my refurbishment and hopefully get some help ( as iv been a beetle guy for 30yrs) as dont know much about buses especially the type4 engine So heres what im starting with ( looks good at first lol) and couple pix of floor welding that needs doing ON INSIDE where it’s been fibreglassed lol il get to the underneath at a later time
So the engine !! Iv put back the bits that are obvious but iv bought other bits of ESSENTIAL tinware (apparently) but not too sure where or how they attach the small brackets and the underneath that attach to heat exchangers
And I know im doing things ass backwards but hey i was bored yesterday ( i know was xmas day lol) so decided to get the sewing machine out
So gonna get the grinder out today ( if it stops raining lol) cut out the cab floor both sides and the cargo floor sections that need doing Have all the panels ready to go plus new seat runners as have hi backed seats from a 78 i think and im sure that will be fun getting them right lol il post pics as im going
Rain stopped play on the welding but nearly finished the panels. Only ones left have to be done once iv altered r&r bed and built cabinets I know the pro’s out there will probably pick holes in them but im happy and is only second time iv used a sewing machine
73 Westy here too. Wow - that's some great sewing going on. Good luck with the metal work - if it's anything near the quality of the upholstery it'll be great too.
Haha nooooo iv only got a silly little machine and could never sew that straight lol I bought that already done
AT LAST THE RAIN HAS STOPPED! Long enough for me to sounddeaden and insulate behind cabinets So have test fitted them and hob/sink before painting
