Hi all Our 78 Bay 2L has had a quirky throttle pedal since we've owned it, it seems to be getting worse. My theory is that the second part of the cable tube that curves up over the gearbox seems very soft plastic so as the cable tighten inside the tube it reaches a point where it pulls the tube straighter so causing the change in feel in the pedal. everything else sort of seems fine, it's a pretty new cable, return springs seem ok etc. Does any one else have any thoughts before I order a new tube for the cable? Cheers
I would also consider broken throttle cable strands catching inside your wonky tube. Buy both, remove and inspect old cable. If it needs replacement, grease up and insert new cable. Otherwise you now have a spare for when/ if it breaks.
It seems to be just a plastic tube, looks like I need a new one, the cable is only a few months old so pretty sure its not that Thanks
Last time I looked, 10 years ago, you could only buy Beetle ones that are a few inches too long. As you need both end bits, I cut a bit out of the middle with a grinder and sleeved the join with some suitably sized hose. Maybe you can get van length ones now.
Bought one from JK a couple of weeks back. Sold as generic Beetle/T2 fitment so I expect some tweaking. Noticed low stock so grabbed one as my old one has lost its covering in places. Now sold out and no expected date for new stock. Packaging says MADE IN GERMANY. Label on packaging says made in Poland.
