Anyone got any pics of the hanger for a type 4 engine with a python exhaust. instructions not that clear or I’m going mad thanks!
Mines very snug I guess I need to tweak it with the hammer as the bracket and bumper are too close to the exhaust.
Now you mention it I remember having to ‘adjust’ the hanger, no biggie, it’s only a thin wall tube and easy to bend, probably easier than you’d expect. I’ve just looked at the on-line instructions and it states that the engine hanger needs to be removed, I didn’t so maybe I didn’t fit the hanger as intended or maybe CSP have changed the design. Do you have the 42mm Python or 45mm? And are you using collector inserts?
yeah the instructions are not clear and it looks like the exhaust is also hitting the bodywork on the arch. It’s the 42mm with the collector.
I think you can probably blame the arch bodywork for that one. Thinking out loud, there's probably a little play here and there all the way back to the heads? Maybe even the deck on the case has an effect. So many small variables. Another - the front hanger casting is adjustable up/down. I realise all is rubber mounted, but I wonder if you could get at the 2 nuts, loosen and push the front of the gearbox up. Maybe the back would go down. Probably not unless it's being forced to be unnaturally high at the moment. How does your tin/bodywork line up where the engine seal is fitted? Level?
All looks as it should pretty level The inner arch is a bit low so that won’t help. Will have a bit of a look at the weekend as bloody work gets in the way of playing!
That looks more like the position of the arch rather than the exhaust, mine has about 2cm clearance all along the silencer. Sorry, I meant the cone insets for the collector, but I’ll guess you don’t have one. https://www.csp-shop.com/en/exhaust-heating/cone-inserts-251-101-150-22529a.html?cache=1593804911
Even so ignoring the body it clashes with the bumper and and bumper bracket. Strange. Oh well I’ll tweak it
Strange indeed, as you can see mine is a long way from the bumper. I have GRP bumpers and wouldn’t want the exhaust too close.
so worked it out. aftermarket heat exchangers slightly pointing up - body work rear quarter not level inner arch slightly lower.
