Started the strip down today. Im thinking a mid or dark grey frame and the panels in Dove Blue to match me split.

You can tell its French, Corks to seal the smaller tubes!!!!!!!


Rubbing down starts tomorrow

 

@PIE thought you’d got a mono wheel trailer already, or am I thinking of someone else?

 

I have, on me bay, this is a smaller one to put on the split.

 

The frame is now powder coated, I have cut alloy panels which are now painted Dove blue to match the split, I have found that the wheel was the same as one used on a 50s Vespa, the nice man at the vespa shop dated the wheel via the wheel nuts to 56-58 which is a great fit for the 57 van. I have replaced the m8 wheel studs for M10 which vespa did later to match me new wheel. I have stripped and painted the hardware. I now need to build a tow frame that does not interfere with the bumper .

 

Its on its wheel today so not far off

 

Nothing better than a classic trailer to complete your van , looks a proper job.

Theres one on FleaBay with a well funkey mudguard!! Cos the wheel is covered by the bed its not a legal requirement ,,, Worth thinking about finding or making one

The actual trailer is now finished, just got the top and towing hardware, which I have alredy started.

On to the towing hardware, reinforced bumper irons and a bar tucked into the pressed bumper, so invisable unless you have been run over!!
