Ok-products.de type 4 rocker covers.

  1. Thought I would treat the van to these cool rocket covers from ok-products.de.

Bored of chasing the small leaks on the stock units and wanted to support a small manufacture.

I will post some pictures once they arrive. [IMG]

For €139 plus shipping they should be good.

I tried bolt-on alloy covers but found the bolt holes difficult to seal. Standard covers with silicone gaskets have been leak free since I installed them.

  3. That's what I'm currently running.

It's a bit of a magpie moment and he looks like a cool little company making ace handmade items.

And anything with a vitom seal gets my attention, he obviously knows a decent rubber seal.

  5. Do let us know how you get on, an interesting product, if not a little on the pricey side.

  8. they look nice but i have to say i can't justify spending money to fix a problem i don't have :)

i wonder if the cooling is improved with the vanes?

  9. It took multiple stock sets to get and find a decent sealing set which I'm going to keep in my breakdown bag just incase.

Previously I bought a set of stock units below which where horrific fitment.

And didn't really fancy paying similar price for aftermarket ones from a main parts company.

The ok products one are someone's hobby so it was a but of a impulse expensive buy and support for a small business with what I can say is a well made product.

They are on an sealing great, will run them though a few heat cycles and check the bolts but so far so good.

  11. My right hand side dripped a bit all last summer, despite using hylomar and a new cork gasket at every attempt.

The trigger was me doing a service, we just couldn't get it to seal, it was only a wee bit, but you could smell it as the Bus warmed up.

A mate ordered up some silicon gaskets today so I threw my lot in with him to share postage. If they work, they're a bit cheaper than those fancy covers, but way more than cork gaskets.

The proof of the pudding, as they say....

Just out of interest what torque did you use and what size are your rocker pedestal studs? One of the reasons I removed mine was because I didn’t want the, albeit small, addition force on the studs.

Don’t use any sealant and they’ll be leak free; just be careful they stay in position as you lift the cover into place. And you won’t have to replace them when you do a valve check so although the initial price is high you won’t have to buy any more gaskets.

  14. 15nm on the m7 studs which are 13mm

And 22nm on the m8 bolts.

  15. Do/did you clean all the oil contamination from the mating surfaces before using the silicon gaskets? Thanks..

I do but it’s more important to remove all traces of old sealant. A little oil on the joint face as the covers are fitted won’t do any harm unless it causes the gasket to slip.

Interesting, so the cover bolts increase the static load on the studs and decrease the clamping on the pedestals. I expected the cover bolt torque to be lower than the pedestal nuts.
