Where did you get nipples from - are they standard size? I’m sure when I done my brakes I didn’t get replacement nipples. This also shows how easy it is to refurb brakes and more people should do it rather than spend £’000 on ‘refurbs’.
Hi Ray. Those ones in the pic are actually for the T3, but our ATE calipers on the bay take these style.. https://www.brickwerks.co.uk/brake-bleed-nipple-m7x1.html It's worth checking before ordering as it seems they can vary I keep a small stash of stuff like that coz it's sods law one snaps, or the copper joining line won't undo etc etc.
Further to @Razzyh comment on bleed nipples, it's worth retaining the old genuine parts where possible. The seals off the OS caliper were mint. Older style, held on by wire circlips, but no rubber degradation. I'd done the NS one about 3 years ago and and put the new seals on that came in the kit at the time. They were compromised, possibly from excessive heat, and didn't look too healthy! Likewise, I recovered and cleaned up the oe nipples and they work just fine. Just gotta be careful getting them out
Sorry to resurrect this post from six years ago but the elephant scale makes it the best post on this entire forum in my view. Genius
We've had some laughs over the years. I don't know if you were around for the classic Xmas panto thread Bob, but there were some proper witty contributions from some very bright people
So apart from lots of messing about with lithium, switching to AGM, and then back to conventional lead acid, we haven't had really added to Chips camping kit this year...apart from Boggate! Finally the trusty old Thetford 135 decided that keeping fluids inside just wasn't the done thing anymore, and the only seal that can't be replaced, on the blade, gave up.. We keep the loo between the cab seats. Not everyone's ideal, but it's clean and sanitary and has worked well for us over the last 13 years or so. The challenge is finding a unit of the width and height that slides under the belts and doesn't foul on the seat controls. Introducing... The Fiamma Bipot 30!!!! Or not as the case may be
Looks good, dimensionally correct, easy to separate, empty and clean. However, on anything less than a level surface and I mean like spirit level level, the waste fluid that collects in the poorly designed entry to the cassette siphons down the blade and dribbles on to the floor! The first one was replaced by Fiamma Store as the blade also cracked within a week of use. The second one still siphons, so we improvise by tilting it backwards on a lump of wood! Not ideal, but it works. Hopefully a heads up for anyone considering this bog... Fits under the belts and snuggly between the seats.. But it's wet feet in the night unless it's tilted backwards.. Fiamma Store refunded us for both. It's a poor design that we have improvised to get to work but it's not ideal. The hunt continues for a toilet that fits, is easy to clean and operate and is well designed.
The new ones are bigger, presumably to accommodate bigger arses and provide a more 'at home' experience.
The next chapter has begun. In 10 days or so Chip goes in to have a few bits of bodywork sorted. So far it's off side cab step, under the near side rear light, window seal metal tidying all round incl lower windscreen and the front panel sorting. We aren't going for full panel replacement and where possible it'll be repaired without too much invasive surgery. The bits are tiny, so I want them doing before they get much worse. We need him back soonest to go camping...
Not really, Pontefract. We've not put the bus away this year as we usually do coz we were on notice since just before Xmas. Been waiting 18 months or so for the slot.
