Found along with several other WWII era coins, mixed in with old buttons in the drawers of the vintage sewing machine we inherited

Edit: After a bit more (sympathetic) cleaning, I also discovered that a manky, very worn old coin, that I used to demonstrate to a friend how good Meguiar's ultimate compound is, is actually an 1853 Emperor Napoleon III 10 centimes piece. Not worth a huge amount, especially in its poor condition, but all the same... Erk!

  9. In Englandshire, I'd call it the Vale of Leven, but despite 25 years up here, I don't know what word to use for Vale, but it's basically the basin of Loch Leven. The photos are taken from the Fife side over looking the basin with the Loch to your left hand side. Locals say the water levels used to be much higher until paper mill at Leven started it's operations, it has long since gone but they keep the levels as they were as the valley bottom is crackin farm land and too good to be allowed to sink.

Surely Glen Leven. Ben = high / mountain, Glen = valley/ low.
Hence Ben Nevis and Glen Nevis.

Eating toast made from a 12p M&S short dated loaf, with jam that came in a little pot with a scone once. Using a £6 Woolworths toaster bought in Cowes in another life..

  12. Yeah, and no, maybe. You see this is a lowland Loch, it really is a very wide shallow basin, not really what comes to mind when someone says Glen, certainly never heard it called Glen Leven by anyone around here.

The Vale of Leven is over in West Dunbartonshire so it's not that.

We had a bit of an unscheduled visit to the vet this morning with Lola. A couple of injections later and she's tuckered out, dentastix chew still in her mouth. Hopefully it's just an ear infection that caused her loss of balance. She is quite an old lady though at 14. Bless her x
