So why do people go for the 2l when it appears to be the same job fitting a 2.5l?

Are 2.5l engines hard to find?

  2. Yes exactly the same fitting wise BUT Yes much harder to find for some reason, plus in my experience they tend to run hotter. Don't overly NEED more than a 2.0 anyway

  3. My 2.0l is fine for all things. When I had mine done the insurers started asking things like is it turbo or non turbo, so they know a little about the power these push out ... I suspect that if you upsize to 2.5l they might give you a bigger insurance increase, not sure if that is the case @pkrboo

Insurance didn't care that I went from 1600 to 2400 and were unconcerned with any power increase though perhaps a turbo would trigger a reaction.

  5. what HP does your 2400 push out?

Carole Nash were only interested in whether or not mine had a turbo.

Hardly any but the question didn't arise. :)

  8. I’m going to have a very interesting conversation with my insurers when mines all done, I’ve gone for a 2.0 turbo with a 2.5 crank making it just over 2.1 but with about an extra 100ft of torques over the standard 2 litre

  9. Probably not even worth mentioning tbh. Insure it as a 2.0 turbo, unless you have a very good insurer that will understand

  10. Reverse inlet manifold test fit. [IMG][IMG]

  11. This maybe a stupid question (almost certainly is lol ) but if it’s just a case of turning the inlet manifold round why do people buy the reverse pipe ?

  12. It's easier to fit a throttle body reverser. But I like the look of doing it this way. I think it's neater.

  13. It does give it a more stock engine look.

  14. It's a common mod for the turbo boys as they can then do a front mount intercooler with straighter pipework (actual scooby boys)

Will you still use the water pipes on the inlet manifold or skip?

  16. No not really needed in out climate. It would be easy to do though, just longer pipes needed. Maybe I will put them in. I shall see how I feel when I get to it.

  18. Does it make life much more difficult if you have no engine inspection hatch inside ?

    Yes but still doable
